  2. My father works for CBC and is part of the lockout on Locked-Out Journalists Turn To Podcasting · · Score: 2, Informative

I too am also in Fredericton, here is the link to the local blog on the issue: http://frederictonguild.blogspot.com/ What caused this lockout is this, the management wants to bust the union and be able to hire contract/short term workers for half the salary or less than that of current workers. The current workers are not fighting for more money, but for job security, for themselves and new people comming into the workplace. Its the same thing that happened to a lot of industries/companies in the 90's. What irks me the most, is that this is paid for by TAXPAYERS! They have been simulcasting the BBC news in the place of CBC news, and now that the workers at the BBC have found out, they are furious, as this says that they support the lockout, which they do not! Its low, and underhanded management that are trying to make a profit on a taxpayer based system.

  4. Vynil on Congress Declares War on File Leakers · · Score: 1

I think the only solution left for the recording/movie industry is: to make it illegal to own any medium except vynil records. Make us go to mass recording burning events, burn everything, casettes, CD's, computers, all of it. Then hand us a turntable. I mean the Vynil medium was the most fool proof method. Oh wait, wasn't the main reason CD's were pushed in the 80's was because the sales of vynil were going south? .. hmm ;)

  7. Agreed on Logitech Z-680 Dolby 5.1 PC Speakers Reviewed · · Score: 1

Ive had many a friend brag on about thier latest computer speakers are rated from 250 ~ 500 Watts (RMS mind you). And I say, oh yeah? I bet I should be able to beat my Peavy 2x12" guitar amp thats only a measly 160Watts.. and they say, for sure! I bring my amp over, put it on 7 (thats all it takes) and jam out some chords. Gives them a new perspective on Wattage rating (and a nice ring in the ears). Its the same crap they have been pulling for years on low end car stereo equipment. RMS != true power folks.

  8. Nemesis on Rick Berman Doesn't Know Why Nemesis Tanked · · Score: 2, Interesting

Why did it tank? Well pretty much all the exciting parts were in the previews, in fact I thought the previews were better then the movie after I saw it. The movie felt rushed, and pieces of the plot just seemed absent. Ok, wedding with Riker, that was what a whole five mins when they have been working on that relationship since the original series? The whole he's your clone thing, face your demons was really kinda lame IMHO. I had a hard time believing that this was penned by a 'fan' of the series who knows Star Trek inside and out. When we left the theater it was like I having watched a lame episode of the series on TV (which happened from time to time). For it to be a final chapter in the movie series (ya right) it went out with a wimper and not a bang. But its not just this movie, the last couple have felt incomplete and rushed. The last Trek movie that I felt was really well done was 'First Contact'. ah well, my 2 cents.
