A few years ago I decided that all I wanted from my old audio gear was my turntable that I got in 1993. So I found a nice pre-amp online (DJ-Pre II) and connected it to my computer. Now I can still listen to records, but taking up 1/4 the space. Also nice since places like Amazon have been stocking new and older titles for a couple of years now.
LTO4 also now supports encryption as of Aug 2011 via firmware upgrade. We made the switch at work last year for ISO compliance, and it buys us some time before we have to invest in the newer LTO5 or LTO6 drives.
Long time alcoholics tend to suffer from a duality within the mind, the one who wants to stay sober, and the other that wants to drink. LSD can cause a permanent splitting of the psychosis and the end result can be schizophrenia.
So I wouldn't recommend trying this.
Thanks for everything Rob, and best of luck to your future endeavours! I stumbled upon this site in 1998 and am still a daily reader. I would have to say half of my geek vocabulary was developed through this site, and other phrases as they came into being. I've moved around and lived in 3 different countries for IT work and showed everyone I met Slashdot, so it's been a nice constant companion on the crazy web. Slashdot just got a bit smaller today.
Take care Rob!
I had to re-read that a couple of times. First time through I was thinking, yes most of us on here have limited lives to play video games. Then I realized you were referring to the amount of lives in the game haha.
I worked on a contract at a university for a psychology dept. The OCD prof suffered from it himself, the former gambler taught about addictions. The woman prof who taught early child development couldn't have kids of her own, etc etc.
"Dyson listened while the Terminator laid it all down. Skynet, Judgment Day, the history of things to come. It's not every day that you find out you're responsible for three billion deaths. He took it pretty well. "
I recently ordered a copy of 'Them Crooked Vultures' on Vinyl, sounds fantastic! With the Loudness Wars [ http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Loudness_wars ] going on for the last while, music is becoming harder to listen to with all the compression, you lose the dynamics of the recording. I've recently gotten back into vinyl because of this. My ears have been thanking me ever since!
Yeah, I even find it's hard to listen to a lot of newer albums for very long without my ears getting tired. On the other hand, if I listen to LP's I can listen to many in a row and not feel that way.
The Loudness Wars are just ruining the way music is heard:

I also remember in 1993 you could get a WWW 'phonebook' which listed all the available websites in known existence. I would mainly log on to find more door games/apps for the BBS I was still running at the time. heh.
What they should do is offer a recycling program for the used coffee grounds, and take the money made from that to subsidize current fuel prices. Then eventually wean people off that to alternative fuels.
Well, being from the east coast when I was transferred to Iowa for a couple of years with my company, it was nice to be in a more rural setting. The people were sure a lot more friendlier, and I liked the pace of life. So for the people who hate the place, there are those of us who like it.
I use rsync through ssh and have set keys up so no passwords are needed. I have a couple of cronjobs, 1) Dump each database into its own tar.gz file with todays datestamp, rsync them over to the backup server. 2) Second cronjob clears out the local backups once a month, and another cronjob clears out the backups older then 8 months every year. Works pretty well.
I was actually at work when this happened, as I work the backshift. I was among some other tasks, and refreshing Slashdot every hour to see if there was any new stories, and then it just timed out. I stared in disbelief, did the firewall team finally decided to block this from me as well?? So I did some other tasks, and then came back and tried again, same thing.... So I tunnled into my home network, fired up Lynx and tried again... nothing.. wha.. I stared in disbelief, can slashdot be down? The beheamoth of site chokers is down.. Being that it was 5am EST I figured it must be the 6 coffee's that I had overnight, and to just try it again later..
Now seeing this post, looks like it was true, crazy heh.
If I am understanding the original poster, they have users that move around a lot. They want it so everything comes up as company set default everytime so there is no confusion.
Well you could always try what we do. Setup the computers as company specs, set everything as you need/want them. Put in a mapped drive for storage. Then install Deep Freeze http://www.faronics.com/index.asp/. This will ensure after every reboot the computer is back to the way it was. The network mapped drive is used for all their document storage/whatever storage. It took a bit to educate our employee's to not save anything to the desktop, as after the next reboot its gone.

Since by then we won't be able to do anything that would utilize those speeds anyway. The way things are going, everything will be locked down tight.

Really, then how come Brazil was able to make the change? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ethanol_fuel_in_Brazil

I think they just want to aquire ZFS, open source it, then sell SUN off again.
For some reason I read it as: Doctor Frankenstein, ok time for more coffee.
Well whatever it takes to ease people in this economy, while transitioning to alternative sources.

I bet the first time it is actually used in a full power experiment will be December 21, 2012.
I was just thinking exactly the same thing.
That's why they have archival quality cd's/dvd's which have a shelf life of 100 or more years.

Until they lock out your account trying to use that password to get in. ;)

Dutch is to English as Italian is to Spanish.. very close, if you can figure out the root word meaning, then you are usually correct.
