You bring up great points, and even as a Linux advocate, I agree with. This may the turning tide where software vendors will start porting to linux because people just won't buy Vista with the limitation.
We don't care because we're geeks. I have a MAC or Linux machine running. The casual user does not. I know people that don't have DVD players but do have DVD-ROMs and watch their DVD's through the computer to the TV with an S-cable. People like that care. College kids care because maybe they can't afford the luxury of a DVD player (yes I know their cheap but most of my college friends are flat ass broke).
No. One is stating a fact as in "Windows is full of security holes." The other is my personal belief as in "I think Windows is full of security holes" What I believe and what is could be 2 different things. If I said "Prof.Phreak (584152) is a con artist" and stated it in a public forum, you might want to defend yourself where as if I said "I think Prof.Phreak (584152) is a con artist" you might want to say, ya well "mikesd81 is a crook why believe him?"
In a chilling slap at free speech, the jury decided that not only was this illegal, but that it was worth over $11 million
There's a fine line between slander and free speech. According to the article: A Florida woman has been awarded $11.3 million in a defamation lawsuit against a Louisiana woman who posted messages on the Internet accusing her of being a "crook," a "con artist" and a "fraud."
Maybe 11.x some million is a little steep but you can't go out and slander someone. It would be different if the defendant went out and said she doesn't trust the person or like the person, that doesn't necessary deflamate the character.
it almost gives me hope that the world might one day be united in space exploration."
It's a place to start. Every nation has scientists that are specialists in their own field, if we can get together and share information about space, imagine the possibilities.
Now if this were applied in the US and could be installed without a judge's consent (a la the Patriot Act), your standard privacy concerns would apply, but the impression I get is that this is a case of the Swiss authorities catching up with today's technology.
Now there's an interesting thought. US and Patriot Act.....maybe I'm paranoid, but it's all a matter of time.
Are you 100% sure? Maybe not via this but IP packets can always be intercepted somehow. On the other hand, if Skype doesn't like this idea, I'm sure they can fix it.
You have a point here. You were in front of the computer learning. Most kids I knew growing up were on the computer just to play games and other less educational reasons.
I would agree except I know alot of college people and even people a little older that like things like this but can't find a power button on a computer. I think that retail sales associates should be educated by Microsoft (ya right) to inform the customers of this. It's almost a duty to do so.
I agree, but only if the potential customer knows about these limitations. I found this article when I posted it on a geek site. Not where some teenager would look unless they are interested. It was TEchdirt actually.
What good would the usage report do? You may be able to see what the thief did, but how would you track the mobile phone? Now, if it sent a GPS signal to you, that'd be different.
Comcast makes them believe that Vonage is insecure and only works when your PC is turned on.'
Is Comcas saying in certain terms this or just implying? There is a difference. Slander would be saying that this is indeed true, not if you imply a certain other company may not be so secure...
I understand your point, weather it be facicious or not. However it's not so much the learning to use a firearm as it is the bonding process with his father. That in itself goes a long way even if just sitting on the couch to watch a football game or going hunitng.
As I recall I was trying to make a point that people should be productive with their children and maybe things like this won't happend. I blame it on parenting more than anything.
If we give their argument a benefit of the doubt and he the game taught him to do this, it still falls on parenting to limit is amount of time playing the game. Parents have an obligation to teach their kids morals, the difference of right and wrong, and general social skills among other things. If your son is playing any game an excessive amount, maybe it's time to take him out to the baseball field or footbal field or hunting or whatever. Teach him to be constructive at a young age.

It's sad but true. As long as you're not specifically accusing them I suppose...
Well imagine it used for diseases such as cancer? It could turn into a surgical tehnique of some sort.

Sorry I didn't use proper language. I'll have to study the dictionary more.

Well, there is times I wanted to post an article but wasn't sure if it was posted yet and I searched for it. Surely he can too?
Picture. All I did was right click where the image should be and selected view picture.
Keep in mind that the wireless is almost worthless. It also doesn't allow you to play Windows Media files. I don't really thinkg it will beat Ipod.

This worked well for Enron. You just get in trouble for destroying evidence.
Without a doubt if Google loses here it will set a precedent for other governments to invade our privacy.

Yes this took me a minute to figure out that he meant unused chairs that resemble or look like the originial, I think.
