Now that I think about it, I've been using my scientific calculator more rapidly than others by using both thumbs at once...I never really noticed that before...guess I'm a mutant.;)
They don't exclude calculators specifically, I was just noting that they changed to a much more sane definition that only includes digital devices capable of copying or presenting copyrighted works, instead of the draft which just specifies any "digital" device (which would include insane things like my keychain calculator, my watch, and my alarm clock).
They mandate the right to fair use (3-e-1), specifically allow VCR's (3-e-2), and they changed the definition of digital device not to include calculators and watches (9-3). Don't get me wrong, it's still bad, but it's not quite as bad as it's being made out...
Think about that for a minute. Gender-swapping, however comical and unintentional, is just not gonna be kosher for Cartoon Network. Don't get me wrong, I'd love to get that on TV too, but I kind of doubt there would be much show left after cutting the ENTIRE PLOT.
I think it was rather irresponsible of them to include screen shots of Wolfenstein 3-D and Duke Nukem 3D in an article about abandonware. Those titles (and in fact nearly all of Apogee's games going back to about 1990) are STILL FOR SALE *AND* SUPPORTED AT 3DREALMS.COM!!! They go out of their way to do offer this. You can download a copy of one of their older games for only $10. Yet I routinely see Apogee titles available as abandonware. If you're going to run an abandonware site, RESEARCH the titles you put up, and if you don't, call it a warez site, because that's what it is.
I remember there was a thing in an old PC Computing magazine about how you can tape a couple sheets of black paper into a loop that keeps feeding through the fax machine... >:D
A friend loaned me a copy of Chrono Trigger (he doesn't have a SNES), and I've been playing the hell out of it. When I'm not playing, the music is stuck in my head..../me hums Robo's Theme....must destroy Lavos!!!
Maybe I'm missing something, but isn't there far more need for organ transplants than supply? Why on earth would you want to freeze them for later when there aren't enough now?
Before they come out with a microbe-powered laptop? Think about it...running low on juice? Just jam something worthless and organic into a big chute in the back! Finally, a use for those complimentary pretzels on airplanes! Or that yappy little dog your neighbor has! >:D
Is it just me, or does TNN not have any programming except TNG? Every time I turn around, they're showing yet another episode, and now they're running these bizarrely composited (but funny) commercials for "Bonus Treks".
I've started referring to them as The Next-generation Network.;)
I just opened up the ftp window on the right, and the local directory tree on the left, and he could just drag'n'drop files, directories, whatever.
That's what I meant, perhaps I wasn't very clear. I've used it on a number of occasions to upload files to my webspace by drag-and-drop. It's rather crashy, but that's another issue.
(He was impressed that you could use the same program to get files from other computers, and file management.)
Ummm...Windows Explorer has been able to do this ever since Win98 (IE4 if'n you wanna be picky)...just type in an FTP addy in the address box...uploading works too...
Ummm...Vietnamese uses the Roman alphabet, albeit with some wacky diacritical marks. I suppose historically they have used Chinese characters, but I don't think that's what you mean.;)
You can't do that--goatse.cx uses robots.txt to exclude itself from search results. It won't even show up if you search for "goatse" (try it if you want).
My PC's speakers pick up AM radio on a frequency of about 1100 if you hold the volume knob just right...I remember I hooked up a big headphone extension cord and a microphone to the microphone jack and I could record pretty good sound off the radio station...I guess it's my cheapass AcerMagic S20 soundcard....
I got Bob with my computer years ago and it's actually a very nice program; I really don't know why everybody knocks it. It's a delight to use, even if you have lots of computer experience; you can spend hours twiddling with your virtual "room"; and the software it comes with is still more useful than lots of "real" suites.
It's really a shame that they never finished v2.0. Really its only problem now is that it doesn't like Windows 9x.
Another neat thing is that when Bob started going down the tubes, Microsoft sent us the add-on programs for it (the Microsoft Bob Plus Pack and Great Greetings) for free.
Bob actually had an email client, but it could only use their proprietary service (offered by MCI), which is of course long gone. You got an address of whatever@bob.com.
I have a book that they made called "At Home with Bob" all about the stuff you could do with Bob...
I should really go reinstall it; I still have the disks around here someplace...long live Bob!

Read. Think. Then post. I said open was "unambiguous".

Umm...they used the word "open", not "free". "open" is unambiguous.

That's probably why they call you "Sloppy". ;)

Here you go.

"Algae" is plural. The title should be "The Little Alga That Could".
Google does not archive attachments, or even anything in alt.binaries.*.

Technically, it would only take one genie and a lot of people wishing. ;)

I propose "cowboynealon"...
