From the Information Week article:
Brooks said he then deleted the presumably stolen account information, changed the password on the account, and notified Google.
[...]
Google's statement continues. "We are investigating this incident, the underlying activities of which violate Gmail Program Policies. We have suspended the suspect account, and are in the process of notifying the owners of those accounts whose passwords may have been compromised. It's unfortunate that fraudsters continue to use email for these purposes. We have phishing detection capabilities built into Gmail, so we were able to act quickly to limit the impact of this particular attack." I have never read Google's Privacy Policy but am slightly concerned that they appear to be able to access emails after their deletion.
You obviously don't use GMail, Google Calendar, and the like.
With NoScript one can designate sites that are allowed to run javascript, it's just that it is disabled by default. I use NoScript and have simply whitelisted google.com and any other trusted sites that require javascript.
Yeah, that's a definite typo. Thank you for catching that and correcting me. I wrote that in haste.
I was referring to the time when they were in the closet and saw two binders sitting on the shelf. One had 'P' on its spine and the other had 'NP' referring to polynomial and non-polynomial complexity.
NP is the class of all decision problems that can be solved in non-deterministic polynomial time. NP does not stand for non-polynomial, if it did why would we always ask "is P equal to NP"?
Theoretically, the combined user-base would surpass Google. But many users like me, never visit MSN / Yahoo after acquiring a Google identity (gmail).
I am in the same situation but with the exception of Flickr. I've tried out Google's Picasa Web Albums but was not impressed. No doubt Google will do much to compete with Flickr in the future but for the moment Yahoo has the lead in that sector at least.
Not true, you can put USE flags for specific packages in the/etc/portage/package.use file. You might want to check out the relevant section of the Gentoo handbook for more information.
I'm not sure what the right long-term solution is. Its not ideal to have to turn off support for Cherokee, Cyrillic and Greek.
Perhaps rendering non-ASCII characters in a different colour so the user can tell the difference between a lookalike character and the "real thing" could be an option? Not perfect but it's something that springs to mind which may be better than turning off IDN support completely.
For one, the use of the online Encarta isn't completely free. If you make an Encarta search, you'll notice a clock ticking in the left side of the screen: you only have two hours of "free" Encarta
It is not free in any sense of the word, the second article I looked at gave me: "The article is exclusively available for MSN Encarta Premium Subscribers." --- "MSN Encarta Premium: Get this article, plus 35,000 other articles, an interactive atlas, dictionaries, thesaurus, study centre, and more for £19.99/year." I think I'll stick to wikipedia.
I wish the article had provided a bit more info on what the specific chemicals were.
I saw this story on the Channel 4 News yesterday and at the end of the report the correspondent said something like: "as to what the chemicals are, the scientists won't say as they are seeking a patent".
He's trolling, take a look at his post history: he has only posted in this story and all full of obvious spelling mistakes and silly statements about Free/Open Source Software.
Personally I think it's disgusting that people would change their vote based on how much a candidate knows about a sporting event. Of course it does make Kerry look rather silly if he just pretended to be interested; but on the other hand the fact that candidates feel they must be seen to like baseball is pretty sad (and reflects very badly on the electorate).
1. 0% - although I have used these things in the past I no longer have any of the files. To be honest I don't have a very high opinion of these illegal sources, I once gave my mate (who is a big "warez d00d") a list of CDs to get for me and he couldn't even find one of them!
5. Hmm, now you mention it about half of the aforementioned 95% are from my big brothers CDs although I would never in the past considered buying CDs that there are already copies of in the house; just like I would never buy a book if somebody in my house had a copy, what a rediculous thing to do (although no doubt the music industry thinks we should).
Back to the point of downloading, I find a much more rewarding way of exploring music is to listen to radio stations like Resonance FM, this also has the added advantage that you are presented with music you had never heard of rather than seeking an mp3 of something you already know a bit about.
The post *is* redundant since the fact that "fuck is number 5598" is in the article, which, surprisingly enough, comes before the first post. The post is now at '4, Informative' - just goes to show that the best way to gain karma is to get in quick and state the obvious, or even better: quote the article back at the mods, don't worry they won't have read it.
Also on the subject of shaddows, many monitors have a contrast setting that can go pretty damn high. What's to stop me from making my monitor so bright that I won't have shaddows wheather they are on or not in game?
Also once the Linux version is out there will be nothing to stop us cranking up the gamma by running something like xgamma -gamma 1.7 (and I presume there is an equivalent in Windows) before we launch the game.
I think they are more intended as a final destination although it probably would be in their interest to offer previews of music, it's a shame they don't.
On the other hand you are likely to hear the music they sell on the excellent Resonance FM (very eclectic so consult the listings if you don't like what you hear at first) I personally like "The Wire's Adventures in Modern Music" and "The Bermuda Triangle" on Thursday nights and also "Scratching The Surface" on alternate Tuesdays. Also the listed shop Rough Trade plays the best of their new stock every Thursday at noon (GMT) on Resonance FM.
As a side note The Wire is a great, independent, guide to new music -- the down side is you have to buy it though;-).

Sarge was frozen just over a week ago and slashdot ran the story at the time.
This only seems to cover England, well at least they don't have areal photos of Scotland anyway.

You can burn on IDE burners without the "ide-scsi trick" on 2.4 too, you just need a new enough version of cdrecord.
Arrggh, main returns an int god dammit!

Neither did I and I use firefox. Simply go to about:config and set network.http.sendRefererHeader to 0.

2. 0%
3. under 5% - from places like UbuWeb
4. 95% - all ogg vorbis for my Rio Karma

So I can look forward to being tried by Microsoft Judge(TM)? That gives a whole new meaning to "Blue Screen of Death".
