  1. Is that in the US (likely) or over all? on Facebook Refuses To Share Employee Race and Gender Data · · Score: 1

How much of the US work force is US citizen? Of that US citizen component in US, how much is African-American? I suspect that there are more Africans (with VISA, etc.) than African-Americans (US born). Technology is all about disruption of society. Overseas is cheap underpaid workforce where there are no labor laws (if any) that are followed (unlikely). Let's get some numbers! If companies catered to students like NFL/MLB/NBA did for college+high scholl atheletes, we would have more talented and qualified US work force. But then again, it is cheaper to import and underpay with visa over employee head. Should they complain, you can send them back at their own expense (yes it happens).

When waiting for a compile, we had to make proper flowcharts for operations manual, maintenance manual, and also the prammers manual, the latter having the source code. When there was a change to any program, all needed to be updated and approved before the change was put into place. Although a compile a day seemed leisurely, there was more time for code review and complaince. I think biggest issue is the lack of code review needed. Now, people are more interested in their train of thought to correct errors from compiler that they do not slow down and think about what they are coding. Code reason why there are so many bugs and security holes. People need to slow down and do all the other required steps to ensure quality code.

The US coal companies should embrace the US not using coal, so they they can focus on the export of coal. 13. Re:When niggers get smarter on Jesse Jackson To Take On Silicon Valley's Lack of Diversity · · Score: 1

Has nothing to do with being a "nigger". Fact is the culture in the inner-city has a social norm of intimidating kids who want to learn. Just look at the poor kid who got beat up in Chicogo. Jessie should focus more on inspiring inner-city people to get educated. He can then focus on educational institutions to offer more than an athletic scholarship (which is where education makes money - colleage sports is a money racket). Jessie should also focus on black-on-black deaths. More blacks are killed by other blacks than "whitey" lynchings. Jessie is a bad case of the pot calling the kettle black. Let's refrain form the word "nigger" as it only adds ammunition to Jessie, that everyone (AKA "white people") is against them. Personally, I think there are more problems *socially* in the intercity that need to be addressed. IMHO, the only thing holding them down is their own culture. As long as they can blame others, one won't fix themselves first. I have known and worked with many minorities and can only say, that the successful ones succeeded in spite of the jacked up community they came from (I had same problem myself in a way).

  20. Lack of drivers on Microsoft's Attempt To Convert Users From Windows XP Backfires · · Score: 1

My wife's IBM a31 ThinkPad (desktop replacement) ran Windows XP great. MAX RAM and PATA SSD allows it to move pretty quickly. No video driver for Vista, so could not upgrade to Vista. Installed Windows 7 Pro 90-day eval, but we are still stuck with no video driver. Ubuntu might be a good choice if I can get the old lady switched over. Computer was preinstalled with Win2k and upgrade to XP in 2004 was smooth. If video drivers were available, the old and trusty machine would not be running XP. Why should perfectly good hardware be added to the ewaste stockpile when it is perfectly good? New hardware makes no sense if it does not offer much. System idle at 99% is not a reason to upgrade. IMHO, replacing old hardware for new hardware is too much like Apple.
