Hmmmmm... please don't whine when a witch hunt comes your way. Let's remember there was no crime to begin with, and this was a case of a prosecutor run amok. Just like Mr. Nifong in North Carolina. I personally hope, when all is said and done, that either Mr. Libby prevails with his appeal(s) or Mr. Bush pardons him. Personally, I want to see these overzealous prosecutors given the jail sentences. That is the real travesty of American Justice. Woe be unto you if you come in to a prosecutor's cross-hairs!

What kind of rubbish are you talking about? The Intel Macs which are at Core2 Duo are 64-bit machines. The original Core Duo Macs are most likely 32-bit machines. In any event, when Leopard releases, Apple will be 64-bit across the line for currently shipping machines. You're obviously not involved in the software/hardware manufacturing busines. Trying to move from 32-bit to 64-bit is not a trivial matter, and takes several versions to complete. Even when you're done, you'll have customers running legacy 32-bit you have to deal with.

  3. Re:Wrong in every possible way. on NC Man Fined For Using Vegetable Oil As Fuel · · Score: 1

I haven't read TFA. The intent of fuel taxes was originally to pay for roads. I'm sure that state governments have diverted some of those monies elsewhere over the years. If you are running purely on vegetable oil, I doubt that has been taxed as a fuel (and thus those monies earmarked for roads). Instead of fining, I would think the more appropriate thing to do would bring this up to the legislature so it can be dealt with. Non-hydrocarbon based fuels are a great thing. They lessen our reliance on oil imports. However, try telling that to the governments and big oil.

We can't compile a new version of Windows, so special drivers is the only option.

I respectfully disagree. What corporations should be doing is keeping their *shareholders* happy, not Wall St. These "analysts" who probably couldn't make it in the real world if they had to, tout "whisper numbers" and other nonsense to pump up or down (all they want is volatility) for their employers (the investment firms). Screw having good quarters, blah blah blah. What should be happening is doing what is right for the business and everything else will follow.

There are many corporations in Europe that have been around for hundreds of years. I am pretty sure the lines of business they are in today are probably different from when they started. What hasn't changed, though, is that management does what is right for the company (otherwise they wouldn't have lasted this long).

I don't see things changing for the better though for the majority of corporations here in the US unfortunately. Executive management is only looking out for their own bank accounts, and the employees, shareholders, and customers can take a leap off the bridge.

Rather than doing a second unauthorized charged, they would be better served by sending out a polite email describing the situation and requesting the extra items be returned at their cost. They be out the shipping, but the honest folks won't have a problem with returning the stuff. They will then know who the dishonest ones and can then take them to small claims court if need be. Nobody would fault them then.
