The Notary Public who notarized the old guy's supposed signature on the Power of Attorney is the one who screwed up and should have to pay. It's HIS job to positively verify the identidy of the signer - and he obviously did not do that.
Title should be transferred back to the original owner and the (innocent) buyer should be made whole by the Notary's malpractice insurance policy.
So?
Big deal that technology allowed automation systems to get smaller. The first TV sets were the size of cars, yet Sony couldn't patent the Viewman (handheld TV set), because it was the result of the advance of technology. How is this any different?
AM and FM radio stations have been using these kind of "computer devices" for DECADES! They are known as program automation systems and they date back to the PDP-8 days in the 1970's!
How can this patent even be considered? This kind of stuff was prior art DECADES ago!
I think either Gates Radio (Harris) or International Good Music (IGM) had patents on the original automation systems, but they've long since expired. Can someone else re-patent something based upon an expired patent? It sure sounds like this happened here!
The interstate highway system makes up les sthat 1% of the roads of the USA, yet it carries 25% of the traffic. There would be no commercial trucking industry without it.
'The fingerprint image recorded is not the same as those collected by the federal government or law enforcement.'
But just watch...it could be USED by law enforcement in about ten seconds!
California has required you to give a scanned fingerprint for years just to get or renew your driver's license. I've always wondered how many divisions of law enforcement now have MY fingerprint in their dtatbase. When I asked the guy at the DMV, he said he didn't know, but was SURE that law enforcement could access their fingerprint database without ant warrants.
1984 was 22 years ago. We're WAY past that privacy wise!
Unlike ISP's, mall owners don't charge admission to enter the mall. ISP's do.
It's perfectly okay to charge stores in a mall big rents. That's what they expect to pay!
BUT the malls not only don't charge shoppers to enter, they usually provide incentives f0or them to do so.
ISP's not only charge me for entry, but they me charge MORE if I want to ride on the moving sidewalk as oppoosed to walking along (more $$ = greater speed) That sidewalk should be able to take me anywhere in the mall for the $$ I pay, NOT just to where the mall owner wants me to go.
Since digital downloads are new, the record industry used "New Math" to calculate the royalties due the artists. The CD royalties were done with "Old Math"
You know how it works: one for you, one for me, half for you, two for me, quarter for you, three for me...
M$ actually modified Windows 3.1 (as an update) so suddenly it would not run with DR-DOS. They got sued and (eventually) lost (read: a minor slap on the wrist for them). BUT the damage had been done.
I've been with B of A since the mid 1980's. The past couple of years they have begun making this loud sucking sound. They suck fees out of my account that lowers it below a threshold and then suck more fees out. On one single day after I screamed, they credited back over 200 dollars in fees into my account. They've been putting 5 business day holds on Govt. checks that used to go in as cash. They obviously have the fees dept. going full tilt, along with the bean counters. I'm moving soon and as soon as I'm settled, they're history. I've had it with them!
All this surprises you?

The United States has been on the slippery slope towards becoming a third world country technology wise for over a decade! Corporations have virtually unfettered access to our elected officials, who bend over for the ca$h they fill their bank accounts with. THIS is the reason for what this article speaks of - We have the best Govt. that money can buy!
Consider this - though the (analog) VCR was invented by Ampex, a USA corporation (now defunct I believe), not a SINGLE VCR was ever built in this country! I don't believe that there is a single motherboard or other computer part that can claim to be 100% USA made either.
We are a country of takers and users and Congress leads the pack in taking!
WHEN (not if) our style of living falls flat on its face, we'll have no one but ourselves to blame!
An entire COUNTRY is being kept out of the WTO because the RIAA says no???!!!
Since when does the RIAA have a stake in international policies and politics?
Oh..WAIT! I I forgot about The Pirate Bay fiasco!
This should be quite conclusive proof of just how 'bought' American politicians are by big business.
Some will consider this offtopic, but it really isn't when the discussion moves to filesharing being a sort of: "try b4 you buy".
Anyone that goes to a movie is entitled to a FULL REFUND of the ticket price if they go to the box office within a 20 minute window AFTER the movie starts and demand one. Not the trailers, etc., but the actual film.
They are REQUIRED to give it to you, no questions asked!
It's a fact that the Internet is a great entertainment medium. Much better then CD's or movies or TV. I can tour the world, get an education, shop for most anything....and then there's the free pr0n!
Maybe that's the **AA's plan - to sue the Internet completely out of existance.
The Internet is terribly fragile...It's been crippled by greed. Greed of corporations, and governments, and hackers, and criminals, all looking to stake their claim and increase their power there.
Microsoft is a major trasher of the Internet, by the fact that they have designed and sold operating systems THEY KNOW can easily be compromised.
The DSoS attacks of late are all being done with machines using Windows.
I'm not sure if anything can be done at this point, short of trashing half a billion computers, surely an impossible thing to do.....
When the spammer counterattacked with thousands of hijacked computers, he essentially did a distributed attack. These kinds of attacks can't be stopped, short of taking each computer off line one at a time.
If people would only lock down their computers then things like this would happen so much less....
With Congress firmly in the hands of the Republicans, this President can do whatever he wants! Let's also not forget that he's been stacking the Judicial branch with his cronies the past six years.
This WILL be dismissed, without a single line about any of it in the 'liberal' (read: joke!) media.
The fix is already in. Karl Rove (aka: Little Stalin) is already spinning the deceit. Jst watch....you'll see!

There have been many court cases that claimed the FCC has no jurisdiction over radio signals that do not cross state brrders. In EVERY case, the court has sided with the FCC. Some of the latest ones are Radio Free Brattleboro and Radio Free Berkley. This precedent goes back to the early 1920's.
As far as toll roads go, states have always had the right to have private roads. For that matter, people can own roads too...But toll roads receive no federal $$ whatsoever. The owner must take care of them completely.

It probably will - about as good as an X86 CPU (grin).
85-90% goes out as heat or noise...
