  1. They have no Jurisdiction here... on N.Y. County Mandates Wireless Security · · Score: 3, Interesting
THIS IS NOT WITHIN A LOCAL GOVERNMENT'S JURISDICTION!!

The FCC regulates radio spectrum and the Internet, because both are Interstate services.

Local laws making bandwidth stealing a crime will also likely get overturned in federal court.

There's something in this country called the SEPARATION OF POWERS. It gives the federal government the right to regulate: "Interstate Commerce". Since radio waves don't respect state boundaries, courts have determined they are INTERSTATE in nature!!

The Internet has also been defined as an Interstate service.

Local Govts have NO RIGHT to regulate EITHER of these! Recently, Florida passed a law making the operation of a pirate radio station within the state a felony. It WILL be struck down by the first appeal of any conviction. Why? AGAIN, because the states DO NOT HAVE THE RIGHT to regulate Interstate Commerce!!

The FCC is one of the most politically corrupt Govt. divisions. They literally bend over for large companies and law firms. I personally have seen them apply the same rules two opposite ways in two identical situations. The NAB is one of the biggest lobbiests (read: BRIBERS) out there. The MPAA and RIAA are right up there too.

Don't expect the FCC to EVER come down on the side of the consumer in anything - they never do!

I've always thought that nuclear power was viable, but NOT the way it has been done in the past in the USA. Too many types of plants, most stick built and one of a kind.

I'd prefer the way that France does it, where there's many smaller reactors, all the same type. This way spare parts are always available "off the shelf" and there's always a pool of well trained plant operators.

One big problem though is disposing of nuclear waste. Trucking it across the country to Nevada is NOT a good plan to dispose of these.

They want to bug our telephone conversations, look at what books we buy or borrow from the library (and also decide what books the library can loan us!), monitor our banking transactions, monitor whate we go (via GPS in our cell phones), issue us a national ID card ("Your PAPERS, pleeeasse!") and on and on ad nauseum!

Therefore, this it NO DIFFERENT then that, simply because Google and I both already PAY our ISP's for Internet service!! Now my ISP literally wants wants: "Protection money" to 'protect' the packets I've already paid for.
