My understanding of the KS debate was whether to explicitly deny that no form of creation other than evolution was possible or not. From what I have heard the media distorted and fanatisized it. While I believe everything currently points to evolution, I'm not so closed minded to think that I could still be wrong.
All the people complaining about this are being hipcritical. We've all said many times that you can't stop P2P file copying. There will always be someone able to put a good quality copy out for download. Finally a big company is showing some good insight and just hindering the copying to help disuade people.
This is a good thing. Complaining about it just makes the community look unpleasable. (Noooo. That couldn't be the case could it?)
I'm sure this will be redundant as soon as I post it, but the HTTP is what enables web page browsing. The Internet is the entire network, hardware, software, and protocals.
Why do it in Canada. I'd do it in some high-tek tax haven. On the other hand it'd end up the same way as Kazaa. With the RIAA/MPAA hunting for ways to sue you.
My first thought when I saw the headline was that some ISP in Canada will now offer to provide a proxy for you to PTP networks for a small fee and a guarontee of non-disclosure.
Why canada? Why not start an ISP in a country with enough infrastructure to give you a good backbone, but so little law that the RIAA and it's equivelants cannot sue you? You provide a proxy for a nominal fee and downloaders and uploaders can proxy through you without fear of reprisal. You are the end of the line and not obligated to release any information about the next step.
During HS I messed around with the computers, got into the grade book server, etc. No hacking, just back doors. Mainly because I wasn't being challenged because I had run out of math/physics type classes to take.
Anyway, at the end of the year I told a teacher about the problem and what to do to fix it. A month later a detective shows up at my door. Apperently I'd stepped on the sys-admin's ego and he'd pushed it to the police. On the other hand, they went through and rechecked all the gradebook files and found so many teacher-made mistakes that they dropped the whole thing.
I agree. the cell phone is the carry-along device everyone must have. When the cellphone you get for free w/ your plan has all the capabilities of a PDA, quality software, and a respectible interface, (something that still needs working on), its thhe only thing you will carry. (Though if it does all the other things how is it more of a cell phone than a PDA or a music player.)
On the other hand, microsoft will have to compete just like apple and everybody else to supply the softare, (and hardware), for these devices. And apple has a leg up on the competition. If apple is smart, they'll work on the podPhone. It'll have the same arched scrolling area, (maybe oval or such), and at least 12 clickable buttons. It'll have an excellent interface building on the iPod and will function also as a phone and w/ PDA capabilities.
(and as soon as it's released someone will start staying up late nights to get it to boot linux =P.) Thats what apple should be seeing in their future.
if this happens, keep the key on a usb drive. If you get in trouble, destroy it and say its in with the rest of your computer junk, (I have a closet full). If they can't prove you destroyed it is it your fault if they can't find it? I know I have 4 or 5 USB keys and I can usually only find 3 at any 1 time.
Again Lucas shows that he doesn't give a crap about the followers of his works. Mr Lucas. If you are not making movies for us, THEN DON'T RELEASE THEM. Otherwise, take in to consideration what we want a bit.
Once a pedaphile, always a pedaphile. I think this is a good way of balancing the fact that we can't keep these people in jail for the rest of their lives with the fact that it's highly likely they will repeat their crime.
I have to agree w/ Grandparent. It's a hell of a lot easier to get something to work once and tape it than it is to demo a live system. Even streaming the video over a VTC would have sufficed. The fact that it was recorded makes me think it is not stable yet.
A friend said he saw this earlier in German. Apperently it is a translation and the original german is so written that there is no doubt it is real.
Finally, an explanation

I had started to notice this but did't understand it. I knew a lot of online news sites put 'payed stories' in with their real stories as a way of generating revenue. So as I read online articles I started to see articles stating some big change that I sure hadn't seen. And a single company providing the solution along w/ some expert opinion.
The more I saw the stories the more I subconciously could start picking them out, much like my spam filter. But the more I saw them where I expected them, the more I saw them everywhere. And I didn't expect to see them everywhere. Now I know why I'm seeing these stories turn up where they do.
Hopefully it becomes common for people to see these stories where they appear. Hell, maybe someone will write a firefox extention that will filter out such stories, or mark suspected advertisement stories. Though advertisers would be again forced to be up-front about their products until the next subversive advertising.
From the article I read: The military has an offensive computer network capability. Now we'd like to spend 2 pages guessing on what it is and does. But we're SURE that its 37337!
Hell, CNA also stands for Computer Network Assurance so I wouldn't be supprised if they're getting their wires crossed a bit (no pun intended).
As for the comments about more offense than defense, I wonder if this is because defense is probably done within programs moreso than offense.
How about the example of a work laptop which is plugged in at home, exposing it to various risks and is also VPN'd into the corporate network and also dock to the corporate network while at work.
Also, I cannot speak of the requirements of your customers, but customers and partners can require access to servers using insecure protocals. Depending on the number of customers and partners and which resources are required, it may be easier to provide host-based firewalls rather than an individual firewall for each potential connection which may bypass your main firewall. I think it is highly dependant on your architecture and preferences though as there are always 2 ways to skin a cat.
Since most enterprises have business partners who come in behind their firewall, host-based firewalls are still important. You can use them to allow specific people on your network specific access to specific resources.
Before the results are sent up, schedule to meet with the audit team and go over all findings to classify them, (things like: false positive, mitigated by architecture, low risk, medium risk, etc). Fight tooth and nail to get those stupid findings removed from the short list that goes to the boss.

Did the Pope sue for 300 million for "moral sufferings" when they cloned dolly?

According to my girlfriend: "Because".

Actually, I would say there are no computer secure against the best hackers around.

Wouldn't that be against the 5th amendment?

Just my 2c.

at $800 and unable to play psp games I'd think it isn't the best solution.
50k. Thats miniscule. The least they could do is pony up the 100k that SBIR programs get.
The special effects are nice, but, lets face it, the acting makes the acting from the other movies look good.
