Are console commands disabled on the consoles? aaaarghh...}} This allowed players to increase the size of their character models to ridiculous proportions{{WRONG, the player is on a unreal-style "roomsky". is like a skybox made of a real room somewhere on the map}} , spawn unlimited weapons for themselves (or unlimited enemies for other, unsuspecting players), and go around the map deleting objects as they saw fit {{cool!}}. A video posted on YouTube showed how to enable the commands. Valve reacted swiftly to the issues, releasing a patch to disable access to the commands a few days later.{{WHY?.. its like the "forge" that Halo have. Or whatever other tool to change the gameplay of YOUR server. More locked down, hum??.. no nice to play on consoles!!}}
"In a post on the Bungie forums, engineer Mat Noguchi explains that the slower loading after a full HDD install is a direct result of how the game was designed to use the HDD in the first place. "When Halo 3 runs, if a HDD is present, we copy maps from the DVD to the utility partition on the HDD," says Noguchi. "And as a result, it means that even if Halo 3 is already installed to the HDD, it will still copy maps to the utility partition."
The problem is games that still try to use the harddisk....again. For a PC game, this looks like really easy fix, but I have no idea for a console, as a console is locked down hardware..for the user and the game dev.. I don't know.

Please, Microsoft guys, implemente PNG correctly on ALL versions of IE (yea, backpatch!), and I will get any new format from microsoft seriously. If you can't get the basics, why are tryiing something advanced?
I love EVE. But is still somewhat cold game. Having something personal can help:
- Portraits. Very nice feature, but you can't personalize more your portrait. Ideas:
* Make your Corportation Flag your portrait background
* Able people zoom the portraits. Maybe even give people pre-rendered scenes with his portrair rendered as a guy looking trought a station window!. Maybe able to replace human eyes, by enhanced ones (red? deep blue?).
- Commerce ticker. Make a ticker with sales and prices on the screen, so you can enter a area and check this area prices for ice, or something. If this game can be more "wall street" simulator, people that love that simulator will love it.
- More non-fighting quest. Whats about other type of quest than "kill 3 rats", or "Kill 20 rats" or "Kill 90 rats"? I can give you ideas: races!, spying, spaceship transportation (a ship is given to you, and you have to move that ship to some location), etc...
- Fatalities. Make very damaged ships rotate like cracy, or break engines?, Is a idea, maybe a bad idea.
- Lag and you!. Maybe the way EVE buttons work is not lag-safe.
Etc. (check the EVE forums for good ideas:D )

- A alien race
- More lore stuff, history, plot, etc
You can do that now in a unpractical way. You can add a textNode, and set the content to the user output. A textNode will force everything to text, even &entities. The problem here is..where this text come from? you can do a ajax conexion, but is unpractical.
Anyway escaping in PHP/MYSQL is done with mysql_real_escape_string, and I dont think is bad.

I write applications in XUL (around 20.000 LoC). I use "MVC"ish style for the server. But the "client" is smart(reads: fat).
My main problem with JS, is that is float calculations suck. If you want to do something serious with calculations you may have problems.
