See? Thats all we ever hear about from PS2 owners (er....I am owner of both...) what *is* coming out. Dont you realise how futile that is? And do you now realise that other platforms will get them too??
Sega make the best games (well innovative anyway) and already their announcement to publish on all major platforms has shit EA up bigtime. Remember the 2 parted company years ago and Sega's sports titles are *so* good compared to the new lick of paint that EA slap on each year for the Nth+1 version....
*ahem* apart from GT3 (which is just GT2 with new graphics) what else have you got thats decent??? Dont count games that are to be released like Metal Gear, but real games out now?? Hard isnt it??
Virtua Tennis, Shenmue, PSO, Jet Set Radio, Daytona 2000 and of course Samba D'Amigo!
Just watch and see Sega show everyone how games should be made, especially EA.....
I got both of the 2 machines and the DC has the best games by far. Sega have always produced the most innovative and fun games out there (well at least on console). They have always been a games who have just happened to build hardware and now it aint so.....
Even though its been out for a while now, the PS2 is an arse to program and really isnt that powerful. Nothing that the DC couldnt handle *if* they ported the game over.....dont believe me? DOA2, same same same.
Problem with the PS2 is that it has suffered from what helped contribute to the death of the DC, timing. The releases of Gamecube and X-Box will have raised the stakes again and have leapfrogged PS2 in terms of performance.
Plus for developers the new machines are far easier to develop on, I have heard from developer friends that Nintendo development kit is sweet and well, DirectX for the X-Box no?
The PS1 sold shit loads due to superb advertising, good timing and a degree of luck. This time round it wont have it all its own way....though to be honest I am so looking forward to further Shenmue episodes on the PS2:)
Absolutely and indeed some argue it is this symbiotic relationship that the US and oil producers. Anyways, that is besides my point.
When I was in the US I saw some of the most incredibly large vehicles in the World being run off petrol cheaper than bottled water. The fact that you in the US actually can buy mass produced vehicles at a decent price gives you no incentive to buy small, well engineered vehicles.
The irony is that these oil guzzlers produce absolutely shocking power output. Take the most well known "sports" car, the Ford Mustang has a 4.6L V-8 delivering 260 horsepower (probably at the flywheel)and 302 lbft. of torque. Then compare that to Subaru Impreza's 280 BHP (through the drivetrain) and over 370Nm of torque. All from a 2L engine (with a small turbo admittedly). And if we move up to Skylines, Supras and RX-7s then the difference is marked.
Plus its common knowledge that only the Italians and the British know how to build a sports car with "soul":)
In the rest of the World, it is well accepted that most American made cars handle pretty rubbish too. I mean who else would have a car race on an oval track:)
The Cycle-King said *max* speed. Not constant. Admittedly it is crazy number for us mere mortals but it his peak.
His claim is isnt even that amazing for pros, I mean take the Tour De France. Fastest average speed over one stage was 50.355 kph by Mario Cipollini in 1999 over 194.5km (Laval-Blois). Whilst Lance Armstrong has been winning for the last 3 years with averages in excess of 40KPH over 1000s of Ks. Suddenly the claim of 45MPH (~67KPH) is that crazy over a short distance now is it?
Besides he may have been slipstreaming a car, have massive ratios, was on a flat at the bottom of a descent etc....
Me?? I have a shopping basket on the front of my bike. Well technically its my sisters.....
For those that don't know, the British fearing the inevitable, thus came up with a strategy to take Bradman out of the game.
Basically we tried to kill him by hitting him with the cricket ball, which is heavier and carries far more momentum than a baseball. By various combinations of swerve, bounce and just simply chucking it out him, Bradman still maintained his cool.
True on all accounts cept that everytime I go to the Playing Fields I end up getting hopelessly drunk and thus my mad gaming skills being to slip away. Then trip on those amazingly steep entrance stairs:)
The thing is that it is only some of the patrons who are cool. Too often some social-misfits think that it is funny to sit far apart and then have to shout across the desks. Told one guy to shut up once, he was shit at Counterstrike and so would hurl abuse at everyone else once he died, usual crap like "camper", "AWP whore" etc. Anyways, I tell him to shut up and I got challenged to a fist fight!.....but thats a different story:)
Feel for you fella, truely do.
I used to work as a PM/Sys Admin for Blue Chips.
Decided to pack in my job and work in Australia for a year.......can barely get a job as an office temp:(
To be honest with you it might not be such a bad thing. There are people who *have* to use M$ apps (such as PAs, HR, parents etc), and so will never be swayed by stuff like Star Office, K-Office, AbiWord, Gimp etc.
Anyways, the point is that traditionally they would have to buy both the OS *and* the app. But if they could get away with just paying for the app, then I think that Linux/*nix will suddenly be an attractive option to many folk. Lets face it M$ make really good office software.
Least not the corporates which is somewhere M$ completely dominates. Linux/*nix needs a killer app or at least something that will draw normal users to it. The techies are already sold but we need that something else to bring people in....
As the desktop environments evolve (new KDE is swweeet), and programs such as Mozilla are becoming more professional in their operation and presentation, it wont be too long hopefully before there will be shift.
Besides it would be sweet to see people migrating off Windows and onto something else but by M$ own hand no?
NiGHTS! now that WAS a controller and a half:)
However my favourite of all has got to be the Namco Arcade Joystick for PS1. Admittedly it was rubbish for anything but beat-em-ups, but the build quality was wild.
All good comments, the thing is though what really killed off the DC was all the pirates and warez so easily available. Shame as the majority of the games was *so* good. The look on peoples face when seeing Jet Set Radio.....
Hopefully the reinvention of Sega into a dominant software house will one day lead them back into developing consoles and I for one cant wait:)
Couple of years ago I was working for a group of companies in the UK. My manager had given me a generous amount to set up a network on a new site. Convincing him that it would be good of me to be able to work from home he allowed a complete set up to be purchased for my house.
A laptop, a server (for testing and backup), laser printer, colour inkjet, scanner, ISDN (it was a few years back remember) and loads of other sutff.
Eventually he was forced to leave the company. Anyways, a Big Cheese in the company decides to promote his nephew to run us, but he takes an instant dislike to me.
So he sacks me (P45 whilst I am on holiday). Cant complain as I got all the gear as he was too dumb to check I had anything:)
Whats wrong with....
1) A newspaper
2) The same newspaper
3) Yet, again the same newspaper (actually it may now have another use - gotta love recycling)

Absolutely,
Cant let those people ruin all our lives.
Just look today; oil, gas, and gold all gone crazy.
We gotta keep it together or else we will all come apart.
Peace,

This is the most constructive, educated and controlled post I have seen on the whole mess.
Well done sir.
I just hope so people can read this without prejudice and learn something about how it all came about.

My father told me 3 things were very important in life, all must be achieved to have a balance.

A day has 24 hours.
8 to work.
8 to play.
8 to sleep.
He would tell you that your life seems to be overlapping somewhat. I think you should meet my father
