That is precisely the point. One man's crime is another man's freedom.

You might not think I should be able to sell my car, on the spot, provided I've got the pinks, to someone who likes it at the drag strip on a whim.

I'll need a phone so I can ask someone else for permission first. To use my own money.

Maybe you think that is nefarious. I think freedom to conduct business ought be a fundamental right.

I think you have stumbled upon the point.

You can't do a paypal or credit card transaction in person with a stranger without the blessing of someone else (paypal or visa). And if you are using a significant amount of cash, they will presume it is a drug deal or money laundering or something nefarious. Large cash transfers are already defacto illegal in the US (see what happens if you get pulled over and have 50,000 usd in the passenger seat) although I can't speak for the UK.

Governmental and corporate power is maximized when citizens can not do meaningful business amongst themselves.

About 14 of us met at T.G.I Friday's for the Nashville-area meetup. Ages ranged from 17 to early 30's, and amazingly both genders were represented, so conversation was lively and covered a multitude of topics. Slashdotters exchanged friendly greetings with such gratuitous puns as "We've slashdotted the server," etc. The somewhat unexpected turn-out provided ample opportunity for the professionals to share some much-needed advice with the students, advice that may soon be put to use in apprenticing/interning positions. The overall experience was rewarding, providing us geeks with a techno-fellowship we don't often have the opportunity to enjoy offline. Even after the meal and the departure of a few working slashdotters, conversation continued in the parking lot and even as I type this, slashdotters sit behind me in my house discussing esoteric filesystems and their applications - and this is 5 1/2 hour after we first met up. I think I can safely say that the Nashville-area meet has been a definite success. Kudos to whoever came up with the idea, and I hope all the other meets turned out as well as ours did.

The very few times they have shipped a defective part(an amd proc) they handled it quite nicely. Besides, they carry almost everything and for decent prices. Some online stores are hell to deal with. Not these guys. I highly recommend tigerdirect.com.

Hold up! This article isnt about faster than light data propogation. Its about encryption. The radio signal still has to cross the distance. The interesting thign here is that it allows you to have two different "one time pads" that change constantly but are also always in sync. This is quantum entanglement. You cant ever send data through this effect becuse my measuring it you change it (and for the other guy to). But you can use it like they have. Bascically this allows you to produce "perfect" encrytion. It dosent move and faster than you can transmit the radio signal.
Anyways, I could be wrong - whadda I know.
