  1. True not everyone needs them on The Death of Bluetooth? · · Score: 1

"A simple paper date book works fine." There are a few places that I consider a PDA to have more of an advantages. I am currently a pencil and paper type of person and I have learned the errors of my ways. I guess it will all depend on your job/region. As it is now I am smack in the middle of Iraq doing signal work w/ the us army. I have about 30 scraps of paper in my pocekts at a time and also 2 mini note pads. As I find a PDA would greatly increase my organization out here, on several occasions per day I find myself digging through scraps of paper to find an IP, or even a phone number. Some of the cases my notepads fall apart due to the glue melting in this heat, or the ink smearing due to the amount of sweating I do out here even in the shade. The idea of dragging my laptop around w/ the info in the dust is out of the question, and that makes the paper my only current option. So for the general population I would say "Hell no, don't waste your money!". As for my personal opinion however, I feel that anyone that deals with large scale support of multiple pc's/telephone swithing systems/servers could greatly benifit from them.

  12. Cooling on Home Server Rooms? · · Score: 1

Keep thermodynamics in mind when planning. The hottest air in the room is at the top of the room, if you can add an exhaust fan in either the celing or an outer wall you can cut out ALOT of heat build up. From there if you want to block off any vents coming into the room that are connected to your household heating/cooling system you will need to make a different intake for proper airflow(as low as possible to suck in the coolest air). It seems to be the cheaper way to go, as exhaust fans arent that expensive to get. Just be sure to keep them on a different circut from your computers as to keep your power as clean as possible. P.S. Isolated grounding is your friend, replace any outlet and rerun any wire you want a server plugged into with an IG outlet. Cant be too safe :-)

  13. Potential use? on Apache XMLRPC 1.0 Released · · Score: 1

Im new to this world of XML, but as I see so far with this we would be able to cut out the extras in an rpc that we wouldnt need. Rather than creating code bloat we SHOULD be able to cut out features that we don't need, not only to lower code size for ourselves buit to also increase security of not having unneeded features that may or may not be able to be turned on in th event of a hole in system protection... But as I said, Newbe to XML, and rather vague in RPC. So My thoughts on this could be way out in east bumble. Please correct any errors for me people, I need to learn somehow!

There has been alot of decay of loyalty to the company over the years from recent behaivor of Microsoft as a whole. If you were to truley take an impartial standpoint you would also exist to better the company and to increase their customer base beyond the current way of, "How else are you to remain compatable?" I guess my point is, what methods of restoring the peoples trust in Microsoft would you bring to the group if chosen?

no matter how long you keep a p233 running you wont need that many fans.... the idea its self is just insane. With the better heatsink on the cpu and then the single system fan you have more than enough... Whats next, drill a whole in the side of your fridge and run the wires through? I've actually pulled apart 1 p166mmx ibm machine ::shutters::(possibly the worst designed systems out there) that had 1/3inch of dust and dog fur blanketing the thing. it took two hours of cleaning to get done. And that system had never overheated, they kept it running for weeks at a time with no real problems they said. damn, that was a side track. but i had to get that injustice off my cheast.

More importnantly i think there is an overlooked injustice. By merely providing informaion to a "hacker" it is covered under the same law, as if to make knowledge in its self illegal to know. What limits will they stop at, will siply consorting with a "hacker" be enough or will they try to argue the point of posting information freely being in direct violation. This all seems a bit too similar to the beginings of the Loft situation that happened, if they actually suceed this time it can go down hill fast. We are looking at the potential of wrongfull inprisonment of anyone posting security flaws! This may even bring more issues to the open source debate, they have already tried to claim it unsecure because everybody being able to se how everything is done, with ibm servers now running linux there could be very strong motions to have even that evaluated!
