I'm sure they did fairly decent testing with 4 wheel vehicles, but my motorcycle lacks the inherent stability that a car has. How bad would a surface like this be when it gets wet?
As noted, they still rely on a root server to keep track of proper data updates. I just dont think this is the solution they are looking for at this time.
Ok great, electronic medical records... Lets break this down shall we? In case of a natural disaster, they are on a server... unless the server was the point of impact of that disaster. Then you may think distributed copies, which leads to a problem of who has the proper copy and what data gets lost during automatic updates. I seriously doubt they can even call this a method to save storage space, seeing as how even if they were served in a single local, the weekly/monthly backups would take nearly as much space. Let alone distributed backups, this is just my tangent tho... proove me wrong people.
This is really a waste of money, to be sitting back and continue beating that dead horse. Considering the fact that a near complete digital overhaul is going to be going on within the airwaves in the not so distant future. This has already been decided, why keep fighting? Fair use covers the recording of media for private/non-profit viewing. We arent talking about John Doe here goes on limewire and downloads 5gigs of copyrighted material. No, we are talking about the people who for some reason cant be home, so they set the vcr to record for them.
Now if i loose a limb during year two of Iraq (lets hope not). I can at least mod the shit out of it w/ some LEDs and maybe even OC the chip and add a liquid cooling system... [cries] I could look like my pc.
I think my first experiences with computers would be back in 3rd grade. We had a Commodore 64 in the classroom. Also my wealthy friend had an Apple IIe system that was the ultimate to us. At that point in the game it was all command line oriented in order to do anything, which fueled everyone's desire to learn. If you didn't you only got to watch others play Ghostbusters and load runner. Then in 5th grade my school introduced a BASIC programming course over the summer, and as budding geek I joined (without a computer of my own). The major need is for a child to have a structured environment while they are just getting into the swing of things. Things only really took off once I got my AMD 386DX (33MHZ, and a sound blaster! BOOYAH!!!). That gave me my unrestricted environment to play with. I feel that since I was placed in a more structured environment first, in order to grasp the concepts and learn how not to break things. That when I finally got a system of my own I was really ready to play.
A more modern way of doing things would be to sit back and get your kid a copy of html/xml for dummies. It is a language that can grow with your child in order to build on many levels of their learning. Also it branches off into many different languages through compatibility, thus bringing them fully into the OO world that we live in today. Start them off easy, maybe even check out the local flee markets and find an old Pentium 2-3 system (or parts)w/ win98. Let them build it with you, don't let them think that this "Magic box" is overly complicated, try to be patient and give as much support and confidence as possible through every step of the process.
As for software: Mavis Beacon (or equivalent typing is a must), a good source code editor (netscape/mozzila suite has one built in that has both OO and source modes), and a good code validate. wish I could keep going but I have people waiting on me.
Very ugly. I think the answer to this has already been seen here, MP3 goggles. Bone conduction could slim down the almost bulky looking arms/earpieces. PLus totally up the geek factor even w/o tape.
Wow, thats kinda funny... I was in Ft. Gordon for just over 6 months doing 31F training w/ the SMART-T training, and as far as "little rights" go, I was drunk on a daily basis w/ everyone knowing about it. When I was there everything was done in phases. Phase 4 you were basiclly screwed, stuck doing shitty details for 4 weeks. Phase 5 was a little longer, but you could leave post after school and stay out the whole weekend, not "supposed to drink or smoke". and in phase 5+ (meaning that you've been there too damn long) they even let you go get drunk and smoke on post.
But as for the usefulness of the 31F training, Im currently sitting in the Balad area of Iraq. I have the best equipment that 1985 had to offer, and my net connection is on par w/ my dial up account I had as a kid. I was supposed to work with "high speed switching systems" but I think the fastest link that I've seen is 4096k so far. Most of my life I spend sitting in an aluminum/magnesium alloy shelter, and answering/fixing complaints/problems about phone service. My adivise to anyone considereing military IT, go get a student load or a grant and go to school.
Everybody seems to always complain about Micro$oft when they have a bug in one of their products. They call them whatever bad name they can think of and curse the very existance of them. But when they actually fix somthing, there seem to be alot more people complaining about it than there should be. Im not saying that it is a good thing to go the route of automatic installs w/o user verificaion, hell thats one of the reasons that I dislike IE w/ default settings. I dont feel that bitching about what they do is the answer, but rather how they do it. Im sorry I'm doing the bitching now, but proposing solutions is better than picking out faults. It would be too easy to have encorperated better dashboard settings that could control automatic update features (much like thier OS's have).
This could be a good move here, Palm OS is one of the easiest development platforms in widespread use. It has also prooven its self in the handy market through the treo line from handspring. lets just hope it doesn't turn out like some of the Bad Implimentations of a handy/gaming system.

Try in Germany, its horrible there. I went from my lovely cable speeds in New Jersey of 400-600k all the way down to 50-75k when I'm luky on this "DSL" from Deutsche Telekom. I guess this is what you get w/o a diverse market for broadband net service.
Well played...
They may take our identities, but they'll never take OUR LOLCATS!!!!
Any reccomendations? I now have a reason to replace my 11 year old joystick! Saitek's X52 does look neat, but there has got to be better.
Me thinks that the "researchers" need to research a little more... http://www.answers.com/topic/trespass http://groups.csail.mit.edu/mac/classes/6.805/student-papers/fall97-papers/kim-crime.html
They could just force ANI and drop CID, so it's not an issue.

I wont even allow my company to reimburse me for flash drives for this reason. It's way better to be safe when it comes to your personal data.
Thats all fine and dandy till Red Queen goes ape shit and locks everyone in.
Oh, there's a monkey in my pocket, And he's stealing all my change, His stare is blank and glassy, I suspect that he's deranged...

I felt a great disturbance in the game community, as if millions of voices suddenly cried out in terror and were suddenly silenced.
