*shrug* I was able to pirate q3 pretty darn easy. (I'm not a big fan really, prefer UT, I just wanted to see what the fuss was about. So pirating it, playing a few times, and then getting rid of it seems ethical to me)

The reasoning here is, the end user CAN'T get the patch without exposing themselves to a hack - like a former poster said, it's a race between how fast they can download the patch and how fast the l33t d00d on thier cable segment can portscan his way in. Not that I think a recall would ever happen, but still.

I'll say that. Copyright should be eliminated entirely, or limited to life of the creator(perhaps +3 years. Less than 10, certainly).
If there was no copyright, there would be no content-distribution companies. This is not a bad thing. As people keep saying, we don't need them anymore. There would be no more Brittney Spears, no more boy bands, and no more RIAA. Art would be created by artists who enjoyed doing so, not bought and paid for by people who like to be able to profit for 3 generations off a single creation. Movies would still be around, altho not so much (blockbusters still make thier money well within the lifetime of the creator)

This actually raises a point - it's pretty common to call Windows apps (especially free or shareware ones) Winwhatever. 17. Re:Obligatory Warning on Universal to Copyprotect All CDs · · Score: 2, Interesting

Because, as a previous poster mentioned, the mom and pop stores have no pull with the RIAA. If Borders gets pissed off, Universal will sit up and listen. If Jack and Jills Music Store gets pissed off, they're up the creek. Also, large stores can afford the overhead involved with returns (generally, small stores don't buy direct from the publisher - they go through a distributor, which ups the overhead another notch. Huge chains act as thier own distributors). Finally, with a mom and pop store, you can talk to them about your issues with copy protected CDs - now, if the CD is selling, don't expect them to stop carrying it. But they might certainly take your concerns to heart, and make an extra point of labelling it, or advising people who buy it. That's not gonna happen at a megastore.

Great stuff. I reccomend the game, BTW, fantastic gameplay even if the graphics lack by todays standards.
