Why isn't Amazon always profitable? For most of their existence, they've lost money except for the occasional quarter with a couple hundred million of profit on billions of $ of income. Same reason as Tesla - building the business using investor money.
This has been a monumental task, not something that can be fixed by just throwing money at it. For example, there are only so many transformers, insulators, poles, etc. in stock, and many many of these had to be replaced. There are still parts that they are taking a long time to source. So much of the infrastructure had been ignored by the power company and Puerto Rico’s governement that most of it has to be replaced. Even if it was a state, it’s the state’s responsibility to manage local utilities.
Add in the rugged territory (as mentioned in TFA), and it’s just plain slow going.
BUT, if we used nukes for everything everywhere it makes sense (like almost everything except transportation), we'd be way better off than we are now. Imagine only using fossil fuels for transportation. Even that will be decreasing and cars and trucks go more and more electric.
One could almost say nukes are REQUIRED for a fully electric vehicle fleet.
Yes, so does the iPhone. What this does, which, I think is a bit different, is tell the difference between a run, a bicycle ride, a stationary bicycle ride, a swim, etc. In a watch.
My sister-in-law (born and raised in Hawaii) lives in Puna and is about as poor as you can get. Our cousin’s son owns a home in Leilani which he inherited and can barely afford to keep up.
It’s usually a bad idea to paint everyone with the same brush of hate.
This reply is so funny! I wasn’t talking about the notch in the first place. However, since you’re obsessed with it, you’ll note that Apple didn’t put the notch in as a design element, they put it in because they had to do so, in order to fit the sensors in while expanding the screen as much as possible.
In other words, they put the notch in, reluctantly, not by choice, but because they had to. Not to copy someone LOL!
I think Android OEMs should stop copying Apple, period, and start inventing new and wonderful things on their own. That’s how competition makes things better for us. Copying just cheapens the original effort.
Last-minute changes to the approval requirements, slow, late and no communications, pre-qualifying people and then rejecting them at the last minute. Some of these are not that much different from what we see with the large banks, but most of us steer our clients away from those.
I am a realtor, and I can tell you that Amazon will be entering the home finance business. Think Quicken's Rocket Mortgage. Now, anything that makes it easier to get a loan and hack through the jungle of requirements and regulations is a good thing. However, I must say that folks in our office absolutely dread transactions involving Rocket Mortgage. They all seem to go horribly wrong.
Also, I can't really see what Amazon can do that others aren't doing already. There's no shipping, no warehousing, no inventory management to make more efficient. Not sure how they would do better.
I always thought that being able to rate the reviewer in some way would be cool, such that highly-rated reviewers would "weigh" more and their upvotes (or downvotes) would count more. Kinda like the karma system does for posts. I think it might still degenerate.
Although it is true that the moderators are somewhat randomized, all of the moderators are "slashdotters". In other words, posts that are positive towards Apple will get downvotes and positive for Android will get upvotes, regardless of the content. Same is true for Trump/Republicans/FBI/FCC/etc. Definitely a bias here.
While listening to all of the other countries and world-spanning corporations complain about tariffs, keep in mind that each and every one of those entities have their OWN best interests in mind. Not the world’s, and definitely not the US’s.
What are these "wide-ranging, systemic issues" you speak of? Please enumerate. That would help solve the problem.
What do you think companies should do to address these issues, specifically. Please state how each of these suggestions will actually alleviate one of the "wide ranging systemic issues". Thanks.
It would be wise to note that Nikkei Asian News is usually pretty full of sh*t when it comes to Apple’s supply chain. One might even surmise that they try to manipulate the stock.
HomePod was announced in June of 2017. Google Home Max was announced in October 2017, and shipped in limited quantities in December. It became generally available in January, 2018.
Did you norice that the Google Home costs more? Apple’s pricing is not “misbehavior” or a crime against humanity. What you don’t seem to understand is that the value of anything is exactly how much someone is willing to pay for it.

Ah, but how does that apply to the BlackMagic disk test? Isn’t that all synthesized data?
Dude, he was totally being sarcastic, and if you can't see that, you're either brainwashed or part of the problem.
Yes, but, still, no evidence of collusion.
Because they think that rage makes the Republicans look bad, and because they think it hurts Trump. No other reason.

Actually, I think 1, 2a and 2b are the best ways to not be poor.
Hate much?

Yeah, I'm sure they will start from ZERO and overtake AMD and Intel.
That’s what Palm and Nokia said in 2007...

I am positive that I can go to other sites and get all upvotes for Apple and all downvotes for Android.

Sorry, I was thinking about the Google Home Max, the product Google created to compete with Apple’s. It’s $399.
Did you notice how I didn’t insult you and call you names?

Come on, fess up: you really just hate it because you hate Apple, right?
