Maybe because it's just a watch and wasn't designed to do this? I think the point of the research is to guide the development of better detection. Things always improve over time, right? From TFA:

“The study is an important first step in figuring out how can we use these technologies in a way that’s evidence based,”

    and

“Atrial fibrillation is just the beginning, as this study opens the door to further research into wearable technologies and how they might be used to prevent disease before it strikes”.

As for right now, even getting notification "sometimes" is better than "never".

The problem is that no amount of education will change their minds. I know someone like this. NO matter what facts you present, they dismiss them as faked, lies, misinformation from "big pharma". They are exactly like flat-earthers. It's their religion.

In the meantime, while you are trying and failing to present real data, their kids go unvaccinated, putting them and everyone around them in danger.

  8. I think you’re confusing an appraisal with an inspection (English, eh?). In the US, an appraisal is when a licensed professional determines the marketable value of a property. An inspection is when you or someone you hire comes out to see if there are mechanical or physical issues with the property.

In most states, inspections are not required by law. I am a realtor, and I have never heard of a lender requiring an inspection, but I don’t think there is anything preventing them from doing so.

Appraisals are required by lenders, and I think they always will be, regardless of this law change.

  10. I think this is virtually impossible. How many 10's of thousands of private companies are there in the US that need better security? Like all of them? You have to get them all - many of the hacks are via contractors, not just the main IP holders.

Society is improved when we applaud good things and reject bad things.

  13. Yeah, I was wondering about that, too, then I started thinking about them maybe wanting to keep an immutable record of who did what, who was told to do what, where each “car” went and why, etc. Maybe for that?
