"I'm sorry, but given that I just got back from trudging through the snow, and practically getting frostbite on my face, I don't see how we're on the "verge" of labor day."
The story says it was submitted by 'lightwaveman'. Lightwave was the app used to do the neato rover video we've seen on TV. Just curious if that guy had any relation to that project or if he just happens to be a fellow lightwaver. If he's the former, you all would probably find the making of that animation interesting, if he'd be willing to talk about it.
What's wrong with Mario Kart? That game's fun. Oh wait, I forgot: I'm 25, that means I have to demonstrate my sophisticated taste in games by only playing the ones with 'mature' visuals.
"Lead, follow, or get out of the way. Sega could use the company;)"
Nintendo's not several hundred million dollars in debt.
"If not, perhaps unemployment's not all it's cracked up together, or perhaps go to a Linux users group and see if they all have jobs. Why not work together on something. It's amazing how impressively a few highly motivated people can turn out a good prototype (perhaps especially if their seed money is running out)."
Yeah because Linux users have a reputation for throwing money at every product they love!
I will be when they improve a generation or two. I'm an artist and a tablet PC would be great for my drawings. The problem is they're the price of a laptop, but have about half the power and screen quality of them. When that equalizes a bit, I will likely purhcase one.
"However, it *does* contain his name, whose spelling in no way resembles "microsoft". I don't believe that Trademark law was intended to include phonetics."
a.) It does resemble Microsoft when you put 'soft' on the end of his name.
b.) Yes, it covers phoentics. Consider what would happen if they ran a radio ad.
" His use of the site aside, NanoGator, I personally consider MS's threats against him bogus and totally uncalled for."
I agree. Though, I wouldn't be all that surprised if MS's battle with Lindows has some influence here.
With some duct tape, some excedrin, and an extension cord, bet you could make it work.
"Gollum dies?!?! DAMN, THANKS FOR RUINING IT :("
So... was the book spoiled for ya too?
"No word on who's playing Zaphod (but wouldn't Eddie Izzard be great?"
I nominate Darl McBride, he's already two-faced!
"Weren't microsoft selling these at a loss already?"
Do you really think component cost has been a constant all these years?
They may be selling at a loss, but dropping to $99 doesn't mean they're losing another $80 per unit.
"Hektor really needs to learn some can control. Look at that drip!"
There are a lot of women out there who just don't understand how challenging that really is.
"er, demolition man, i mean."
Doesn't sound like you've watched it too much.
"I'm sorry, but given that I just got back from trudging through the snow, and practically getting frostbite on my face, I don't see how we're on the "verge" of labor day."
It's only 1Q away.
"RHIC Computing Facility Crosses the 1 PB Mark"
Tomorrow's story:
"RHIC Computing Facility Slashdotted, Crosses the 2 PB Mark." Some will complain of dupes, others will say RTFA.
"(not that I looked ...)"
I think your pants are on fire.
Is my coffee defective, or is this concept just underwhelming?
I can't wait to see how this is spun into Blizzard being evil.
"And yet it was still crushed by the Game Boy."
That doesn't mean it wasn't a success. It just wasn't the winner. Sega still made a healthy chunk of change from it.
"What is more old and tired? Aerosmith or the Space Shuttle fleet?"
C.) Bruce Willis
Am I the only one that can see a face in every one of those rocks?

"It's entirely possible that the authors of this virus targeted SCO, simply to make it appear that Linux zealots were responsible..."
I wouldn't rule out Romulan involvement.
"It's ONLY drawback was the power consumption."
It was also too big. I used to have one of these, and it was a bitch carrying it around.

Nintendo's not several hundred million dollars in debt.
"Well except for the Gameboy line Nintendo hasn't done to well with portable devices. Does any one remember the Virtual Boy? "
And besides the VB their portable failures would be....?
Like or hate the VB, it was an ambitious product. This is in stark contrast to Sega, Sony, and SNK who tend to make a lot of 'Me-too' products.
"If you want to get your PowerBook on line at the office don't waste your time with firewire, just buy a cheap hub."
This is not insightful. Some of us need that 400/800mbits of bandwidth.
"It doesn't make things any better to know that though. :-("
It does for me. You donn't want heroes like that dying painfully.

"I can just see a 17 year old software dev being mistaken for The Great Microsoft. Uh, yeah."
Well, ya gotta admit, it did hit him mentioned on Slashdot twice. Heh.
