"I'm not sure how that makes your point. If you replace an hour of TV with an hour of the Internet, you haven't exactly gained time for social activities..."
You've gained intereaction with other people, which can lead to more social activity. Thanks to TiVo, we can still maintain our 4 hours a day of TV.
"Why would a legitimate user be manipulating images of money?"
Even if the answer is 'there is no legitimate user manipulating images of money', the question is still not a relevent one. Why? Because you really cannot use the term 'never'.
"Hmm sounds just like software companies that are conned into spending boatloads of money on elaberate copy-protection schemes which are broken in days instead of hours."
I wouldn't call this 'copy protection' in the sense that you're describing it. Adobe's trying to keep their ass out of the fire. If Photoshop were suddenly used to do a great deal of counterfitting, Adobe can fire back and say "we made a good faith effort to let people know that it's illegal."
Frankly, I don't see how Adobe could have won this either way.
I've started my own rumor that they'll release a GC with built in screen. Why's this a big deal? One of the big drawbacks of multiplayer gaming with a console is the splitscreen mode. If each GC had its own screen...
"PS: And why SHOULD I pay $10 a month for a game I already paid $60 for? Silly marketing execs. Now if the game was free upfront and it was only the monthly fee, I could be lured in.."
You do realize that it costs them money every month to run and moderate the on-line servers, right? MMORPG's aren't like Quake where anybody can host a server. Assuming service is good, the price is reasonable.
"You know, you don't really even need 60 pages to say, "We ownz0r all of it. SCO > *. Pwnt."
I realize you're being funny, but does the 60 page document really have to spell out every single line of code? Can't it say "look in this module, then go to this line.."? Pardon my naievity.
The moment they show it to you, the OSS community will 'remove' it from all the distros of Linux. Then SCO won't be able to get licensing fees from anybody.
Don't expect to see it, and don't assume SCO doesn't have something they feel is damning.
I predict there'll be a lot of theories about how this is evidence that Microsoft is bad even though the simplest explanation is that it isn't his dream job.
"They've made their bed, and now they're finding they don't want to sleep in it?"
Or they're setting up a nasty problem. If the Record Companies have to pay for having two copies of a song on one disc, then they can claim that somebody who dupes their CDs to use in their cars are obligated to pay royalties to have those copies.
Though I'd be surprised if the RIAA was smart enough to think of something like that.
"the labels will just double the price of CDs and blame it on file swapping."
In order to thrwart piracy and prevent prices from going up, we will use anti-piracy measures and raise the cost of music.
Actually yes, I could see the record industry doing that, but no it won't happen. If they want me to buy DRM infested music, they will have to lower the price. Afterall, I can't do as much with it.
Yes, you do, considering that the metamod instructions say "The metamoderator decides if the moderator's rating was fair, unfair, or neither." So yeah, you have to know why I would metamod every negative post down before knowing if I'm abusing anything. Until you know, you are in no position to judge.
This is the last I am saying on the topic. If you'd like me to respond to anything you have to say, then log in. Risk your karma as I'm risking mine. If you're unwilling to do that, then I guess you just plain don't feel so strongly about it.
"Funny, all the old space probes had nuclear powerplants and that all worked out just fine."
Did they use that nuclear powerplant to launch? (Seriously asking, I have NFI.)
And actually there is a case where a failed launch resulted in radioactive material being dumped on a significant the country. If memory serves, it wasn't enough to make anybody real sick, but they did detect it in a large area. I wouldn't say the nuclear fears are all that unfounded, especially considering the Columbia tragedy. Imagine if it's cargo was radioactive.
"Aren't their some VCRs (or other VTRs) that had built in commercial skipping?"
Commercial 'fast-forwarding' would be a better term. It was an imprecise feature, plus the ads were still on TV. This is different from *zap* you're past the commercial.
I just hope ad skip becomes 'competition' instead of 'litigation'.
When you sign up for service in Canada, do you have to pay a year long contract? If so, then never mind, I step down. If not, then I'd suggest that the money is still being spent, just in a different order.
Personally, I think it's just that competition's not so hot up there.

I've started my own rumor that they'll release a GC with built in screen. Why's this a big deal? One of the big drawbacks of multiplayer gaming with a console is the splitscreen mode. If each GC had its own screen...
My bad. Sorry about that.

"If you are going to post flame bait or trolls, try to post something intelligent, and not Anonymously"
Piece of advice: Don't throw out a bunch of stereotypes and then complain about somebody else not posting 'intelligently'.

"Someone is going to lose a finger within the first week it is out on the market."
That's not funny, it's really made typing difficult. On the plus side, nose bleeds nowhere near as frequent.
"Congratulations, within the frame of two malformed sentences and one lone word, you just made a hypocrite of yourself."
No I didn't, I spelled fucking correctly.
No it's not, and no I won't. All this criticism, yet nobody's asking me any questions like 'why'.
"Funny, all the old space probes had nuclear powerplants and that all worked out just fine."

"some people have tact and class... why dont you get some?"
Said the guy posting anonymously to avoid retribution. (Yeah we don't know who you are.)
"Is derriere REALLY that f'ing difficult to spell?"
Is fucking really that fucking difficult to spell?
I lose more karma to moderators abusing their power. They stop, I stop.

"OMG! this ("i.e. IIRC ReplayTV jewer units") needs to read NEWER units!"
No no, the original typo was funnier.
Replay's dead? Then how come they still charge me $10 a month for a service they are still actively providing?
When you sign up for service in Canada, do you have to pay a year long contract? If so, then never mind, I step down. If not, then I'd suggest that the money is still being spent, just in a different order.

"Can Manned Spaceflight Save George Bush?"
:P
If it means a job for me as an astronaut, the man can have my vote.
