If you carefully read the description it says that these are roughly 400,000 year cycles and we're currently in the middle of a cycle at about 200,000 years, not at a peak. Rapid rise in temperatures has been seen in the last 200 years or so which means this cycle can't explain why we're in the middle of a climate disaster now. It might explain why the climate was a bit weird 200,000 years ago before human civilization even existed. Now consider this, if Jupiter and Venus can affect the climate despite being so far away we can't even feel when it's up in the sky, then why wouldn't burning billions of tonnes of fossil fuels also have an impact on the climate? After all humans can move mountains, why wouldn't everything that we do have an impact on climate.
Are you sure that isn't because you tend to view too many conspiracy videos to begin with? I haven't seen anything unusual with say SciShow's presentation on Climate Change or any of the other legitimately well done science channels. It sometimes helps to see what other videos are on the same channel. If they are political, religious and or wild personal topics then you know you're not on a real science channel. And Climate change will lead to doomsday, thou not all at once nor will it be in a year. It's like driving without a seatbelt. Sure many days will pass without issues but statistically most folks are going to end up in one car accident in their lifetime.
Everyone I know has tried Youtube at least once and usually more. Bandwidth wise it probably has some of the heaviest usage on our Internet usage aside from Torrenting. YouTube is basically the go to place for virtually anyone who wants to view a quick video for laughs, repairs or even documentaries. I probably watch more YouTube than I do regular TV now.
While sending your own name into space on a rocket is a neat idea, the problem is with it being so close to the sun, radiation will likely have destroyed the probe before any future civilization gets a chance to even get to it.
I'm not sure why this would come across as striking, most of us have some predictable behaviour or at least things that we do. It could be as simple as getting coffee every morning or something a tad more complex but at the end of the day all the AI is being used for is to look for these patterns. In the past, it would have taken a person carefully observing and analyzing to figure this out but nowadays a computer can be used to help find that pattern. Advertising already tries to do this thou usually not as carefully crafted for every individual.
Because many of these problems go hand in hand. A reduction of use of fossil fuels in our cars for example would reduce the pollution from them. Many of our plastics use cheap and freely available fossil fuels. If we cut back on fossil fuels, then cheap oil won't be available and folks will stop making as much plastic and fall back to using more naturally sourced organic materials (cellulose or fiber makes a good building material for example).
Speaking of budget, when you work out how much the US spends per person roughly a year. For military it's about $1,800. For NASA it's about $50! Sort of sad when you think about it.
Actually when it comes to downloaded pirated videos, there's almost no way for content providers to come after you in Canada. In Canada, content providers are never provided the address or personal information of a subscriber because doing so would be a breach of Privacy. They actually need to be granted a search warrant first which is expensive and time consuming. All ISP's do is forward any warning messages from Content Providers to subscribers but there's no real obligation for a subscriber to do anything other than to toss it in the trash.
I'm going to assume this has something to do with generic drugs? I guess drug companies in the US are more concerned about making a buck than actually helping people. In Canada, most essential drugs have a generic or no-name equivalent which is often cheaper than the brand name drug and works just as well. I'd be surprised if modern satellites don't have some sort of protection built into them after the legendary HBO Satellite hack that resulted in the words "HBO Sucks" displayed across North America. Jamming is always a possibility with a high powered transmitter although doing so would be the equivalent of putting a giant bulls-eye on your back since it's hard to hide a massive signal. There's also a huge question of why as well. Some of these hacks require some not so trivial equipment so it's sort of hard to see someone spending a small fortune just to bring down a service which many folks require just for laughs.
The sad truth is most folks don't realize how fragile our planet is, it's a finely balanced chaotic system where a slight change in something as small as the CO2 concentration in the air is enough to cause a massive shift in climate. Nature normally takes thousands of years but we're essentially speeding it up into centuries or even decades. It's been known for years that the ocean sea currents could change with climate change and unfortunately it looks like it's coming true. If the oceans current shutdown it won't just cause Europe to get cooler. It could disrupt the monsoon rains which allow India to farm and provides water. If you have a billion people starving to death, I wouldn't want to explain to them how this wasn't my fault and I'm not sharing.
The Paris accord might not be enough but at least it's an attempt. After all the first step to identify an addiction is to realize we might have a problem. And when it comes to China and most other countries you have to ask yourself are you being fair? Per person we use more energy, generate more waste and suck up more resources than most of these "poor" countries. I remember one show which showed a cocoa farmer who spent his entire life farming the stuff to make chocolate but had never tasted a single piece in his entire lifetime because a bar of chocolate was an entire month's salary and the "rich" reporter just ended up giving them a bar for free. China's rapidly advancing to a modern society to match ours so their CO2 production is high because ours is high too but at the rate they're advancing they may end up with a more advanced society that's more efficient than ours. They already have more EV cars than we do. Unless your idea of being fair is along the lines of "I'm rich, the poor should just die..."

The pushers of Bitcoin try to promote it as the next big thing where there's no government interference or main control body to control the currency but as soon as a large batch of coins are stolen, they're out begging for the government to do something because something went wrong.
A lot of pure EVs store significantly more power than the average home uses in a day so there's a good chance it can be used to store renewable energy. Even if people can't get renewable power, they're valuable for levelling power use. Part of what keeps electricity costs high is that our power use swings wildly during the day so power systems need to be designed to generate more power than will ever be used.
Also most EV's use the much more reliable LIthium-Iron-Phosphate class batteries (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lithium_iron_phosphate_battery) which wear out at a much slower rate than most lithiums and rarely if ever catch on fire. Tesla I believe doesn't use these more reliable batteries but the trade-off is the ability to pack more power in a smaller space / weight which is why they have some of the smallest batteries for their incredible capacity on the market.
One huge issue is due to the permafrost, a huge amount of methanes is locked up in the soils. If that permafrost happens to melt it will release countless tonnes of Methane which is an even stronger greenhouse gas than CO2. If that happens it could potentially spike temperatures rapidly leading to a worse situation.
Well I can't say I'm hugely surprised. Our Prime Minister (Justin Trudeau) did say he wanted to advance Canada's Technologies so we would stop just selling raw resources away but instead switched to more lucrative and better paying goods.
I've bought books on my favourite web-comic series but at no point would I consider buying a blood-stained comic-book even appealing. The only way it would make sense would be if it was horror or something nasty in subject but for regular comics an artist or writer's signature with a good pen is good enough. I mean really what's next Stan Lee's half eaten sandwich wedged in there or something?
It's funny how these are slow geologic process taking millions of years yet there's an article reporting on it like it was "suddenly" new news or unexpected. A few more cracks might open in our lifetime but don't expect to see the "parting or the red sea" type movement in our lifetime. Most geological processes are super slow.
Maybe Amazon should consider a separate listing for Erotics? With the Internet, I'm sure there's customer demand for this kinda of stuff so why not setup a separate restricted group.
I think the weaknesses in the driving system are probably more than likely Uber's fault but Nvidia is probably suspending testing just in case there's an issue with their hardware. It's the responsible thing to do when lives are on the line. After all no one wants the negative publicity associated with accidentally killing someone in testing. Note how google's cars haven't run anyone over and at worst have been involved in minor fender dings that still made news.
