I was transferring a large amount of data from a Quantum Fireball hdd that was beginning to act up to a new Western Digital, via IDE. I had the case laying open, and the Quantum was not mounted in the case, but just laying on anti-static foam on the desk next to it.
I left the room to fetch lunch, and I heard a loud CRACK! I ran back in, and was confronted with the following:
The computer was off. The air smelt of ozone. There was a little stream of smoke rising from the Quantum. There was a large chunk missing from the main controller chip on the Quantum's board. 15 minutes of searching revealed that the chunk had flown 12 feet and landed behind another desk.
I was lucky enough to have a duplicate Quantum on hand whose controlled board I could use, so I swapped it out long enough to finish the transfer. Luckily, the CHS specs were the same, so nothing was lost.
Sure, they have LOTS to gain by revamping IE. They could, and I stress the subjuctive here, COULD, make the damn thing secure and deflate a good third of Windows' security concerns.
They won't though, either from ineptitude or to avoid alienating the spywar^H^H^H^H^H^Hdistributed marketing community.
How is Fedora dumping the home user? It's fantastic! What's more, yum and apt are much better that up2date, and moving out from RedHat (the company) has allowed them to migrate.
Please, try Fedora before you bash it. And, since when is the quality of a distro tied to the support of a corporation? Wouldn't that mean that Debian and Slackware suck? Odd, since they don't.
There is no Chicago Times. There is a Chicago Sun-Times and a Chicago Tribune.
This is from the Chicago Tribune.
But, what do I know. I only live there.:)

The book of Webmin is a great reference for a great tool. I've used both to take the initial fear of Linux out of newbie admins. Once I show them how frigging easy even SENDMAIL config is under webmin, they jump right in.

Sounds like an RFC from April 1.
Don't forget the mass of the oxygen to allow for combustion to obtain the energy. I would think that quantity would be non-trivial.
They figured if they entered orbit two days before the scheduled date, they could avoid attacks by the Saturni insurgents.
Possibly, yes, but still doesn't necessarily mean it was a good idea.
Cheesy, yes, but nothing like the end of Enduro Racer. :)
Disclosure: I wrote the second two of the three. . .:)

Hopefully this is the harbinger of great things to come. I'm glad they made it, and I hope they can do it again.

Seriously, though, I salute their courage and hard work. This can't have been simple to put together.
Actually, it's Libraries of Congress/second. As opposed to Minivans full of DVDs.

Yes, we saw him use them, in the early 1990's. What about NOW? That's what actually matters.
Or, they'll set all DRM info to indicate that the original ripper and "pirate" of each track was Jack Valenti!!! :)

I mean, maybe if the card manufacturers would open their specs more, the drivers would be better, and the problem would evaporate.
Do they walk you through setting up a slashdot ID?
