Yeah, I was informed a couple of weeks ago that our (Alberta) current drought situation is being assisted by oil companies pumping our H2O reserves into the ground to get the oil out & that water isn't being replentished (fast enough). Any truth that that?? kuz it sure is dry. Anyone have a link to something like that? I did a quick search but alas, the mighty Google didn't find me any info so far.

Also, the Banff hot springs has been operating on town water for like 8 months or so now and not H20 served up from the depths. The "actual" hot springs appear to be dry at the moment.

While they hike up their rates & make the rest of us "middle class" pay for it :) Such a wonderful system...sounds almost like Gov't. So far, I haven't met a lawyer that performs to the standard they charge me - $120/hr (and that's a cheap one, isn't it?...oh, so I need to waste MORE money to get the same results). $20 to receive a fax? $20 to make a 2 minute phone call and speak to answering machine? An Expensive paper pusher perhaps. And despite all their "education", not all of them can even add correctly, but they sure know how to charge.

Yes, it is too much to drop the lawyer bashing. Welcome to freedom of speech. Besides, it's funny kuz it's so true.

Obviously the lawyers I've consulted with have been living under a rock somewhere concerning this "pro bono expectation".

Bah. phuken innernet. what mirrors did you use? Two weeks ago, to get the ISO's (Enigma), I used one mirror at a wobbly 8k/s and it disconnected me once every hour or so. Thank Developers for resume FTP d/l!! I used the redhat ftp at the same time and got a walloping 4k/s. The D/L was so insignificant I played UT while those were coming down and i was still an LPB (helps when the the cable company finally brains up and doesn't route your packets ALL THE WAY TO THE OTHER SIDE OF CANADA to a server that is only a 5 minute drive away).

Eventually got the 4 ISO's but it took from Wednesday night till Saturday night for them to come down.

It's too bad these cable companies can't mirror this kind of crap locally - proxy it, I guess. Then bandwidth could be cheaper - using the LAN instead of the WAN to get files.

You have been trained just like Pavlov's dog. But instead of salivating, you have been taught to feel angry and offended. Let me guess..."cunt" also offends you too?
