Did anyone read the Not to replace cars part, or the fact its supposed to be a mass transit system part? its more for getting around town, without driving, and parking spiel, which if anyone has been in a large metro area, you know the hell that comes with going thru a downtown area. Hell usually if I am in ATL, I park at some mall and take the Marta everywhere.
I will be needed someone by Jan/Feb, Please send your resume's to SimonTek at Theopenstore dot net. Very useful if your in the SE part of the country, Savannah, GA. Hopefully if the business takes off, I will hire more.
Any Thought that MS might be putting something into their code, and is trying to prevent sun from suing them? We all know, I do not trust the company, but They could sue OO.org users like SCO did with linux. but I am thinking, they know they are doing something that sun won't like, so why not buy them off, or make a deal to keep sun from suing them.
Actually its a lot harder to hack into. I have been to the DieBolt, the maker of Some of the Evoting machines, I know the machines. It basically works the same way NSA keeps machines offline and manually have to transfer files.
cute, but sooo true. Our routers got bout a mile of distance diameter. we supported the G8 summit here in Savannah, wanna see our linux routers? www.simontek.net/pic/G8
I have mixed feelings towards this. On one hand Novell is a strong company and Sun is slowly shrinking. I do not like the idea of using it to gain an upper hand with another company. Granted all IBM really has to do is Switch distro's, but theres more to that. IBM and Novell has both stood up to SCO, and I do not feel if Sun bought them, they would put the same support behind it as Novell. I have owned several Sparcs, Ultra's and played with Solaris a lot. I know the companies. Novell was the first company I got certified for CNA back in highschool. Granted Sun plans to make Solaris open source, but plans can change. I just have to study it better, to see which is better in the long run for linux. Heck SCO might go after them cause of the relationship of Linux and Unix in one house just like IBM.

I grew up in Muskegon, next town over from Grand Haven, Its nice seeing them on slashdot. Savannah, will be probably completed withing a year or so. Pics of some of the equipment are available at www.simontek.net/pics/G8
I took a machine of mine, and ran it outside in West Michigan Winters, 3 feet of snow, yet it ran. I loved it, you could over clock the crap outta it. then spring came, snow melted, computer died.
Southern Linux, a company here in Savannah, GA supplied the Trade center for the G8 Summit with Linux wifi routers. pics available at www.simontek.net/pics/G8
Good story on how much we paid. Its my girlfriends computer. She originally bought a Alienware at Best Buy. Well she went thru 3 of them in a year. Thank God for service plans. I finally saw the machine, and realized AW didn't use ANY thermal gel at all. Well when we went to take the 3rd one in. They told us, they stopped carrying AW, So We were to be getting the Compaq X07.
Actually, We have one. Its the Compaq X07
Its a nice machine, specs
Intel P4 3.0Ghz 800MHZ
Nvidia 5950 256mb
120Gig seagate SATA
512mb DDR 400 Dual Channel
Coolermaster Wave case
all in one reader.
4X DVD+R
Creative Labs Audigy2 Platium
The case is alumium, and slide out mobo. Makes it almost a dream to work on. The only thing Compaq is the Keyboard, mouse and badge on the computer. Which was replaced immediatly. We like running it in Linux, and occasionally use the winxp pro it came with.
honestly, I never read the reviews, I just usually download as many distro's as I can find and try them out. I like several distro's for different things. Mandrake, I like cause I can hand it to my 75 year father, who won't have much trouble adjusting. Gentoo, I like for its stability. Redhat usually only when requested. Each Distro has its own pros/cons depends on what you like.
Actually, Only American TV reports the stuff that tries to scare people. For instance goto Canada, you won't find the news trying to scare the hell out of you. I think, we need a Major uprise, The way this country is going, is not good. We need a revolution. I want to leave, to go somewhere where science is Respected.
I live down in Georgia, I moved here from Michigan. GA is the 50th in the country education. And when you visit the schools you can see it. The schools have adapted to just teach the basics, no pushing the kids. Good Lord, that scares me. My old highschool, Mona Shores, of Muskegon, MI, teaches Cisco networking, Novell, etc. Has a Criminal Justice Department, and the school is well funded for arts and sciences. We had the best teams, cept football. Got our @sses kicked every year.
Why is most districts now afraid of spending the money on education as it seems. If my taxes go up, to support education, I will accept it. Its unacceptable to have some of the worst education in the nation, and we the US are really going downhill from what we used to be. I have friends my age in Russia, that have 2 masters, think nothing of it. Here people are just getting Bachlors.
true, I forgot the Carbon part. And since I haven't developed anything for mac. I wouldn't have known the dash. But since they were able to port it too win32, why would it be more a pain to develop to linux. And everyone getting on my @ss bout lack of users, part of the problem is lack of Real software. OpenOffice is nice for Documents, but not html, I rather have Macromedia Dreamweaver. There are others too. I love my linux box, but it can't do everything out of the box, requires major tweaking to get DVD's to run, or to burn a decent CD. We need more companies to Develop.
I would love to see Apple Port i-Tunes, and such to linux. With OS-X being basically BSD, Their wouldn't be much work to do so. I know it would give them a leg up. I would purchase a copy of Quicktime, if it was for linux.
I wonder if they will call me. I finally opened my shop. The Open Store www.theopenstore.net

I really need some of you guys resume's. I should be hiring for linux tech around February.
I was trained to fix those here in Georgia. Sad thing I find out bout this thru /. not them.

Actually, we can fit the shuttles on top of a plane, why not fly them outta safely. I have a poster of a 747 with the shuttle attached to the roof.
Happy Birthday to you, Happy birthday to you, Happy birthday Beowolf Cluster!

Yes ZDTV/TechTV will be missed. It was nice having a geek network. So Who wants to start a new network?

I thought I had died, I haven't seen SCO in the news for weeks.
