Actually, it can, if its not positioned correctly, When I first moved to Savannah 4 years ago, I lived on a private island, the cable service sucked. I think 90% of the people out there used Satelite. The crew who first installed it were lazy and incompetant, to the point if it was cloudy, we would have interference. Finally sick of it, We called to cancel, they sent out someone to fix it, They installed a new dish, put it in the yard, (it was attached to the house, with only 6 trees covering its view) Now it gets great reception. Although I do not live in Savannah anymore. lol.

I want to email Mr Levitt and find out if he makes more profit with the digital one. I bet he doesn't. The bandwidth space would be about equal price for a website posting information of the book. Digital conversion of the original would be very little (when was the last time a book was written on a typewriter? Its already in Digital format somewhere. So BASICALLY, The cost of the e-book should be MUCH cheaper than the paper version, which its not. Go Figure.

No one ever caugh this little detail, have they. On April 18, 2006, Toshiba released the first HD DVD player for the United States, the Toshiba HD-A1 and Toshiba HD-XA1. They are powered by an Intel Pentium 4 processor and contain 1 GB of RAM; the drive mechanism is also an IDE HD DVD drive. The units run a specialized version of the Linux operating system booting off a USB thumbdrive. Due to high demand, they were reported to be sold out in many stores in the United States after the first shipment. (Although the number of HD DVD players shipped has not been released) (wikipedia) So if a standard P4 chip works, why do we need dual core? I think a lot of it is to sell more hardware. You know manufactures are tired of selling $300 machines.

The Best Buy here is known to throw hard drives into the dumpster, give them to employees, or resell them. Cause "its the cheapest way". The issue is though that you tell a customer that you are going to destroy the drive, that tells customers "whew I don't have to worry bout my Identity, and everything else". But when you just throw it away, that opens up many new holes. And theft will happen. Geeks tend to dumpster dive for new toys. Criminals, tend to do it, to get info, anything that they can to steal peoples lives. I have lived both sides once upon a time. Not the greatest, but knowing this helps me protect customers. When I destroy a drive, I do the regular 0's and 1's, then I dismantle and distroy the drive as much as I can (not the magnets, those are fun). Have people actually READ and RESEARCH the idea handed to them before giving them the patent. Also on the Law front, Throw out ridiculous lawsuits, like if there is a trademark infringement, give them 2 years to file, not 30. Like the Apple and Beetle companies, have been around for 30 years, its a bit late in my opinion to file a lawsuit. Looking at the list Adobe products make up 40% of the list. I think it would be in their best interest to port these applications. Companies use the excuse that "no body runs linux" as a reason not to port. But clearly If Thats what people want, you should give it to them. I love Gimp, but Its not Photoshop. Photoshop is an INDUSTRY standard. My Fiance' (I can not spell that word to save my life), is a Visual Effects Major at SCAD. She loves using linux for her work, but She has to use windows cause CS2 doesn't work in linux. 7 Works fine, but its 2 versions old. I myself Love Dreamweaver. I also do not think WINE isn't stable enough with these 2 pieces of software to do the trick permanitly. I am a Linux geek like the rest of us. But as much as we love OSS, Commercial software has its place. And its about time, they see Linux is a viable market. Maya and Apple Shake run better in linux than they do in the native OS they were made for. (we have checked.) I am curious what the software industry wants, to enable them to port their software. If you they were to port the top 10 list of software, I know that it would also be easier to switch people. But then again. My arguement for not switching is lack of a standard for installing software such as windows executables. Yes, Industry standard is needed for this debate. end users do not need to learn a million things to do to install and use software. To many people they will argue that this is what makes linux different. But it is also what keeps the general population from trying something different. People do not want to learn to install files they need to use a RPM for this, or ebuild for that, or even to untar a file, configure, make, and install. Thats too much for them. I have rambled on too much. SimonTek
