    No, no.

Poorly coded shell extensions bring the explorer UI to a crawl.

Also, if you've got 10+ shell extensions installed, perhaps you should re-evaluate your need for them.

  2. Musepack? on Audio Compression Primer · · Score: 1, Flamebait

What about musepack? It seems like this codec is constantly passed up; yet in my own testing, and double-blind testing with friends and family, they chose the MPC files 80% of the time over OGG and MP3.

Also, if you do a frequency analysis of the raw input compared to MPC's --standard setting output, there's very little difference, where as MP3/etc. will do a "round" or "drop off" after a certain frequency, usually 16-20kHz.

Anyways, hydrogenaudio.org is a great site for information about all this stuff..

Not to mention quite a few high-end audio companies (McIntosh, Escient) are producing "media center" type appliances that directly support ripping to MP3 or FLAC. Guess what audiophiles are gonna choose?

I'd suggest you do some research into gun purchasing and gun carrying laws in your state and in others; they're designed to enforce a proper training and weed out those who would be unsuitable to own a gun. A psychological evaluation is a bit overkill, though, in my opinion.

Also, you bring up a point of "no one's watching you to take your gun away when you've had one too many", and I don't quite understand that line of thinking. When you've had one too many (and/or hopped up on drugs), you can do a whole plethora of stupid and life-altering things, not just to yourself, but to others. Guns are not special in this regard.

Your last sentence is absurd. How can you compare devices capable of levelling entire buildings/cities to a hand gun? Sheesh.

It sounds to me like either:

    a) You're scared of guns, and/or never really learned to properly respect them.
    b) You've had some sort of bad experience with guns in the past.
    c) You're just plain against guns, for whatever reasons you have developed in your head.

Opera just needs to ditch the "pay us for our browser" mindset. Sorry, the days of paying for a web browser died long ago, with the IE and Netscape wars.

Besides, I'd much rather have an "open-source" browser leading the market (or second in market, right now) than a closed source/comercialized one.

I've been using FireFox quite a bit since it's way initial releases, and the only time it's randomly crashed is when it tries to load Windows Media Player on a webpage. This is annoying, but I don't fault FireFox for it. I think there's either something wrong with my codecs, or the way WMP is integrating into FireFox. Maybe I just need to reinstall WMP; who knows.
