I agree if it's done well. "Freaks and Geeks" did it very well. I liked the episode where the kid has this huge drum kit and he's playing along with "The spirit of radio", and for that moment, in his mind, he IS Neil Peart. Great way to set the mindset of the character.
The best background music is when you hear it, but you don't really notice it. The music fits the mood of the show so seamlessly.
Some shows, particularly Bruckheimer produced shows, really over do it. They use music to get you into feeling a certain way instead of the camera work, writing and acting to do it.
There was an episode of "Magnum PI" I'll never forget because of its use of the Genesis song "Mama". Very creepy.

I was just thinking, "Yeah, if they'd only cut off the last half-hour and the whole reviving his mother so he could say goodbye, it would have been a pretty awesome movie. JUst leave him trapped under the ferris wheel."
That's why being able to use spotlight on the Mac equivalent of the control panel is so sweet. Just start typing ODBC and the relavent system preferences items are highlighted.

IBM Opts for AMD

· Score: 1
I think IBM had some of their 486 clones made by AMD, so their working relationship goes back at least to the early 90s. IBM's sold Opterons in smaller servers for quite a while.
I think that the concept of all of a state's electoral votes being cast in a "winner takes all" fashion is at least part of the problem. If a state could split it's electoral college votes based on the vote split in that state I think that we would be better off.
Take California, for example... it is big enough, and diverse enough, to be several states (or a well-off country). The central valley is mostly a conservative, farm-oriented area. The northern area is, historically, a logging area (although now it seems to be skewing towards experimental agriculture). It's largely high-tech and biotech in the San Francisco region, largely media in the Los Angeles area.
Having the state vote as a monolithic block seems silly.
I couldn't agree with you more.
Super states like CA, NY, TX and FL would be better represented and more competitive.
Mid-size states like CO, MN (something like 7-8 EC votes) would probably be hurt the most.
Small states like ND, SD might actually get more attention because it's not winner take all.
Initially I was for each congressional district sending it's own voter and the top vote getter gets the 2 senate seate votes, but now I support state-wide proportionality for all votes because district by distict would lead to even worse gerrymandering than there is now.
If an ad for an animated movie says "Featuring (Actor X) as (Charater 1)" and they show said actor with headphones talking in to a mike, I pretty much avoid it, because all they're selling is the celebrity, not the story.
Note: I can't recall ads for any Pixar movie using the above advertising technique.
bad capacitators with the iMac G5
Now we have the best (worst?) of both worlds. A "low-end" iMac crossed with a "first-generation" (and only-generation) iMac G5. (Revision B was the Core Duo model.)
Actually, there were two revs of G5 iMac the original thicker, more user servicable one and the second rev that was thinner, harder to get into and had a built-in iSight. Core Duo are Rev C because the G5 iSight had 512 MB soldered on, Core Duo went back to 2 DIMM slots and of course, the Intel switch.
Event Horizon had potential, but it went form a Horror movie to a Splatter movie the last 30 minutes and totally lost me.

Sorry, I misread your initial post. I thought you said the disk would be the size of a mini-CD.
In TFA, he says it's a 0.85 diameter disk, so it's about the size of a nickle

That would have been depressing as hell!
Back in the day we called the portable PCs with amber 8" CRTs "luggables". This 20" would be today's luggable.

Perhaps you should have WTFV (Watched The Fine Video).
Shoulder Pork and Ham
Or Porsche (Portia)?
Yes but Apple makes most of it's music money selling iPods. I Google going to sell aGoogTube?
Of course one of the Google bigshots (Eric Schmidt?) is on Apple's board, so maybe for a take on the iTube (or whatever they call it) it'll work out.
I'm guessing there's alot more Zs in the Polish version too.
But the feature set and complexity of French or Japaneese is much greater that any programming language.
You provide a link that shows in the US gold = 500k, platinum = 1M, so the original poster was correct
Isn't that a per processor score?

Bob: Are you saying we shouldn't help our customers?
Gilbert Huph: [pacing back and forth] The law requires that I answer, No.

It's not so much one better than DX9, than one more (I know, that's the way some British english speakers talk)
Well with global warming moving warmenr water north, that'll stop them in their tracks. :-)
It can't be too new, iBooks have had 512MB standard for a year now. You can pop another Gig in for about $100 easily.
