I'd rather have some fancy powerbook or MacBook
The core duo iMac is basicly a Mac Book pro on a stand (with a much larger screen!). It'd kick the snot out of any g4 Powerbook.
Great now there'll be no way to stop Pols from using city generated mail lists for their own purposes. Isn't this what the kid was against in the first place?
That was a lot of fun. Reminded me of the "Hard Drivin" coin ops of about the same era. Now If i could only have had force feedback controls on my PC back then.
Probably one or the other, but not both. Apple likes to keep it's price points the same unless:
stagnation - probably won't happen as much with intel
new model/form factor - 1 GB Nano jumps in at 149, 1 GB shuffle moves into 512 MB shuffle's $99 price point, which in turn moves to $69. Contrast this to when the 10 GB iPod was selling as fast as they could make them and the introduced the 15 GB one at $100 dollars more.
Probably not x1600 graphics in the next iBook (MacBook) otherwise there'd be no reason for a Pro line, unless they bump up the MBP to x1900 (or whatever) graphics at the same time. I'm guessing they'll do like the iSight iMac and go with 512MB soldered and one DIMM slot (and x800 mobile graphics). I'm sure they really want to keep the MacBook near $999.
What I really hope they do have is the MagSafe power cord. THAT is the kind of feature that separates Apples from the Wintel machines. It's the kind of feature that a first time laptop buyer might not see the value in, but a person on their second or third laptop will really appreciate.
I fail to understand how people can continue to support the Republican party on fiscal grounds. They utterly lost control of their financial sphincters 25 years ago.
G H Bush lost the support of the ultra conservatives when he raised taxes just before Desert Shield/Storm. Those taxes laid the ground work for Clinton's recovery (it was actually G H Bush's)
Not getting what you want the second you want it, or in the case of newborns, what you NEED (sleep). Getting someone else (an infant) what they NEED Putting up with someone else (esp. toddlers) not getting what they WANT
YMMV, but I think most reasonable 25 year olds that can manage a budget, keep their house/car/PC maintained and take care of themselves (eat right, sleep right, excercise) can handle a child in their lives. Of course, my wife and I had our first kid at 33, so that tells you where I'm at.
I doubt there's a single 15 year old that has the life skills (and a job to pay for it all)to do that.
Why are Iowa, Minnesota and (god help us) South Dakota kicking our collective asses in Ethanol plants? Exisitng and planned.
I think people up here don't belive in it enough yet. Hopefully we'll catch up eventually. I could be bad memories of the coal gasification plant and the Ethanol plant up in ? (Cavalier?) that ADM bought out back in the Eighties. I think it was a case of being too far ahead of the curve.
I bet they want to get Indians hooked on MS stuff due to Linux advocacy there.

Hopefully not too much. Computer games for all of the recent Pixar movies are WIN/MAC. They're almost the only thing you can find for macs at Target/Walmart, besides Blizzard games (WarCaraft, Starcraft, Diablo).
I agree with your comments except for the comment about smaller houses and apartments. At least here in the States, houses are monsters! Portble and small is the key. That's why the nano was THE hot item this past XMas season.
Does anyone have a pointer to a web site or book that helps you calculate the average R-value of a house?
I took a class on this in Construction Management. I takes a good half hour to do a house or small business building, and you have to know the R-Values of windows, insulation (materials and thickness), etc. Check the Library, because the textbooks are pricey, and cover a lot more than you want for just this task.
No one seems to have jumped on the Steve's statement about complier choices. They used Intels' for the new iMac and IBMs for the iMac G5. As far as I know neither of those are used in XCode (GCC).
As others have pointed out, the RAM issue may have an effect on some of the tests, especially the Power PC binary programs.
I've seen the "Recommened" section for a while now, and it only recommended songs based on songs I've bought through iTMS. (I have only about 10 or so songs bought from iTMS, iTunes has 3,000 songs from my own CD's on it too.)

Well, what 24-year old woman wouldn't want a classy, sexy comment from such a studly, hunky 84 year-old like him?
I think it's sad she had to bring him tea. You see, they have these things called pitchers that really work well for things like beverages.

DVDs don't cost the $50 that most games seem to cost.

Looking at myself, even I wouldn't shag me!
Most kids just don't have the skill set for:
Not getting what you want the second you want it, or in the case of newborns, what you NEED (sleep).
Getting someone else (an infant) what they NEED
Putting up with someone else (esp. toddlers) not getting what they WANT

Good "The Band" reference
I don't think any hobbyists do, but I'm sure that a great deal of Lobbyists do.
As someone else mentioned, the tauntaun had already keeled over.
Han may be a space pirate (who shoots first!) but he wouldn't kill a tauntaun just to save Luke, just ride the tauntaun back.

It seems to be costing them me as a client, since they dropped FW800,
Didin't catch on like they'd hope FW400 still available
s-vhs,
I believe there's a mini-DVI to (mini) s-vhs adapter
display resolution,
Only 60 pixels, and you gain an iSight (which may or may not be of value to you)
probably battery life
We'll have to wait and see
and anticipated dual-layer DVD-RW drive...
a concession to the 1 inch thick styling, a bummer none the less.

The media industry is about to die the same way the blacksmithing and wagonsmithing (?) industries died with the advent of the car.
The term a lot of people use is "Buggy whip" makers.
Blacksmithing is still around, but it's more of an artistic thing now (fancy wrought iron fences and the like)
That refers to the developer's systems, which did have a standard BIOS on them.

I don't think they've moved XServe to Dual core yet. I'd like to see how they handle the heat in thos 1U rack units though.
Do you have a source for this?
