You are wrong. You say you need money to change things, but this is simply not true. If you are but a single man, yes, you need some special way to influence people, and money is the easy and (mostly)legal way.

This whole 'only the rich guys get to make the decision' talk is a load of shit. It's 'revolutionaries' like this jackass who add up to a tiny percentage of the population, and are fed up with not getting to change anything that bring this up. One average simpleton was not meant to change the course of the nation. You have to show certain merit, usually with intelligence. This idiot tried to do it with his hacking prowess, which is against the law, and thus he gets thrown in jail.

Anyway, to get back to the topic at hand, it's crazy to think that you as a person will have even a small role in inciting revolution, and will only end up making trouble, and hopefully getting caught. If you want to have some say, you have to prove that you're worth listening to first, and I'd like to see you propose a better standardized scale than how much money you have.

PS: If you and a million other voters wanted the senator out of office you could easily lobby government officials to have him impeached. A million signatures on a petition would definitely sway any local official. The fact of the matter is that there are about a million people that kinda want the guy out of office, but don't care anywhere near enough to do something. There are legal outs in our government, so why don't you do some fucking research before you start whining about it.

PPS: The boston tea party was an example over the debate for US independence which centered around the idea that along with taxation should come representation. We were not simply whiners. Our modern system of government is insanely different than that of the colonies. For example, today we offer Puerto Rico many benefits for it's territoryship, but force no taxes on them. They have the option to apply for statehood, yet they do not. We don't mind. They don't mind. See the difference?

From what I know about japan, them nips just eat the MDs up. Over there in addition to prerecorded minidisc stores, they have cd rental stores, so you can just rent the cd, listen to it,(copy it) and return it a few days later. I guess they don't have as many concerns about information crimes. They also have these really cool stick batteries(about 2x as thick as a stick of gum), and tons of really cute pop stars.

  17. Re:Well, of course on MS DRM Version 2 - Cracked · · Score: 1

It would seem that capitalism is a constant struggle between consumer and provider, in that the provider is bound to charge as much money as they can get away with, maximize their profit(simply put: price*volume-expenses), and repay their stockholders and then some. The consumer is trying to pay as little as possible, so that they can buy as many things as possible.

Both causes are justified, so it's not a matter of one side being wrong, it's just an imbalance. The way our society works, the balance will move back and forth, through normal price increases and decreases(accounting for inflation of course). However, from time to time, the balance gets so messed up that the consumer or the provider(or both) think they are in a position where they are forced to take extreme measures, such as copy protection on CDs, or download music from others in order to counteract the buildup of financial tension.

However, with the way these things work, the customer only has less faith in the provider, and buys their information even less, and vice versa(provider limits features and services). The correct approach it would seem then is an amelioration of sorts, be it a public apology, price break, or increase in faith in the customer/provider.

Of course the way these things work, it's impossible for the customer to carry this out, as they are unorganized, and extremely static in opinion, so it is neccesary for the company to take this step. Unfortunately, it's always hard for people to admit that they're wrong, to back down, etc. Hopefully execs will realize this, but it doesn't happen often.

Such is the nature of capitalism and the human mind. A constant struggle that only occasionally reaches equilibrium, and even then doesn't stay there long. However, it is truly the best (general)system we can think of.

I agree with Dragon's Flight. When you look at people as nothing more than machines that work on a much smaller scale, what is the distinction between man and machine? One is more complex than the other. One was created by the other. I can't think of any reason to like people more, unless you enjoy their company more. And if a robot/car/whatever is designed simply as a companion(maybe it can drive you around/help you wordprocess on the side) then it will probably beat other people as far as social entertainment goes. IMHO blind prejudice is the ultimate sin.

The point isn't that it will stop everyone, it's that it will stop most people. You think the average joe wants to get on his 56k modem and download another big program file just to rip mp3s?
