Geico sends C&D's and sues people all the time over weird shit like this. Upper management seems to be pretty clueless about the internet. If you have a domain name with Geico in it, you will be contacted eventually and threatened.
It's funny though because they took the domain http://geicosucks.com from someone and decided to point that domain name to the same ip address as geico.com. So you can get a quote and everything from geicosucks.com. They could have done a simple redirect but their internet "expert" claims that they would have to get another $10K web server in order to do a redirect from geicosucks.com to geico.com
Of course the PHBs won't listen to anyone but the buttmunch who insists that they'd need a new server for a redirect. Funny how the useless and clueless IT people end up in managment.
There are a number of places that sell indoor bulb replacements. I just so happen to have done a bit of researching on this very topic last week before buying several strings of LED christmas lights at Lowes. The bulbs I found that you would probably want are at http://wattbusters.com
I also found some interesting things at http://superbrightleds.com
Unfortunately the URLs of most of the other places I found are not with me at the moment but I did remember these two and I just checked them out. The more we buy, the more will become available.
It's really easy. Show the MADD women that no one will die ever again because they got hit by a durnk driver and they will make sure auto-piloted vehicles will be mandatory.
I for one would love an auto pilot for my vehicle. I could catch up on my reading on the way to and from work and get there a little faster. Want to take a road trip? Get in the car and sleep all night wake up in Florida.
I wonder how long it will be before someone creates entirely new species of plants that create the same drugs. At some point you might be able to grow mold that creates THC. When that happens the gov't will either abandon the drug war or march headlong into totalitarianism.
If there wasnt an artificial scarcity on hard to produce, easy to copy items then really how many films would we be enjoying now? How many authors would be producing best sellers? How many musicians would be producing works? How many computer/console games would be being released? I will tell you now, not many at all. When it comes down to it, the majority of items produced for this 'artificial scarcity' are produced for money, not love, and without the artificial scarcity we would have rather less entertainment.
You say that like it's a bad thing. Did you ever stop to think that perhaps we spend far too much time and money on entertainment? Seriously, the money people in america spend on porn alone is larger than what is spend on cancer research. The amount of money spent on entertainment dwarfs the amount spent on scientific research and space exploration.
When we had mag stripes on the DLs here in VA I read the tracks and then erased it. Now we have barcodes on the DLs and I have filled in a couple of blanks spots on the barcodes. When we get RFIDs I'll disable those too.
Your company is ahead of the game. Where I work it's more like.
1. Post ad 2. HR filters out people who don't have the exact combiniation of abilities needed. 3. Best fit is hired from pool, which envariably turns out to be someone who lied on their resume. 4. Crappy employee stays forever, makes life miserable for everyone else and management somehow thinks crappy employee is actually worth a shit.
Take the agricultural industry. They produce genetically engineered crops. They only sell seed which produces sterile crops because they are intelligent and they know that otherwise the product would be EASILY COPIED. The agri industry could have lobbied for federal oversight and DNA testing of crops. They could have run down farmers for "stealing" their intellectual property. Instead they 1) subsidized, out of their own profit margin, engineered crops in order to put them in the marketplace and 2) invested in the research to produce seed which produced sterile crops.
Monsanto and ADM have been waging war against farmers for years using tactics that the RIAA would be proud of. They will inject their copyrighted genes into unsuspecting farmers crops and then sue them into oblivion for copyright and patent violations.

That is the answer for our dying series one Tivos. Emulate the hardware! I really like the software at its current software version and would like my Tivos to last forever, especially since I've paid for lifetime subs. Done properly I could emulate both Tivos on one box -- with dual tuners of course.
Is a generic science DC client. Volunteers would be able to go to a web site and see what kind of projects are being worked on but some sort of governing scientitifc body would be allowed to allocate the amount of processing any given project would get. You could even allow for processing on multiple projects by the same clients. If you make sure that each project has a well designed web site explaining what it is they are researching and have the client app point to this information the owner of the donated cycles might become more aware of the impact his donation is having. Perhaps you could give the client the option to choose what project 50% of the donated cycles will be working on.
I could go for that. Sometimes the hardest part of participating in a DC project is deciding on which one to support.
It would probably be a big boon to linux if we could port some linux games over to the GBA. I'm thinking games like frozen bubble would catch on like wildfire.
Not only that but porting games like tux racer and armagtron to the Xbox or PS2 could help get some higher visibility for linux as well.
The right to bare arms is the right to roll up your sleeves. This is different than the right to bear arms, which is the right to cut the arms off bears.
Because wait staff at restaurants get paid less than minimum wage. They work for the tips. People at fast food joints get paid minimum wage or maybe a little more. If you work at a restaurant they take your taxes out of your paycheck for your claimed tips and often you get a check for $0. Yes, zero dollars.
If he really cared he would have known ahead of time that your food was late, given you a discount on the meal and politely asked you to not penalize the waitress for the cook's error.
Keep in mind, waitresses get paid less than minimum wage in the US. Not leaving a tip on a $400 bill is literally taking food out of the mouths of that waitresses kids(or from her tuition, rent whatever). You probably ruined her whole day. My wife has come home crying because people somehow think that they don't have to pay a tip.
Actually I'm kind of surprised they didn't add gratuity to the bill. Usually a bill over 100 will automatically have it added to protect the wait staff from tightwads.
Next time, don't take it out on the waitress if she did her job. Demand that the manager cut you a break on the bill and then tip based on the full bill(15 to 20%). Otherwise you're being an asshole and contributing to the sterotype that foreigners are poor tippers.
My wife is a waitress who works very hard and provides great customer serice. Liquor laws are so stringent in the US that you can get fined in some places for not asking to see ID no matter how old they are. I'm not kidding, I've seen a guy who was obviously past 60 have his beer taken from him at a retail store because he couldn't produce ID. Anyway, a waitress who is making $2 an hour or a clerk who is making $7 can't really afford a $1500 fine for not asking to see some ID. Don't take it personally, they probably feel like an ass for asking.
As far as typically rude service is concerned. A lot of that depends on where you are in the US. Urban areas will tend to be worse than your rural areas. People in the south have a tendency to be more polite. I remember years ago I took my wife to Florida for a vacation. She's from Maryland and I grew up in the south. We stopped for a couple of burgers at a fast food place and the girl behind the counter was very pleasant. This prompted my wife to turn to me and ask, "Why is she being so nice to me?". Having lived in the DC metro area her whole live she was completely unaccustomed to having friendly service and thought something was up. I had the opposite reaction when I moved up here. I was completely unaccustomed to the frequently rude service.
Also be sure to tip well if you get good service. Wait staff in most places in the US get paid less than minimum wage(under $3 an hour in Virginia) and have no health benefits. They work for the tips and it's hard work, especially when you consider that a lot of people don't tip. Three groups of people have reputations for not tipping well, foreigners, blacks and orientals. Of course not all of the people in these demographics are poor tippers but the majority of them tip poorly. Sometimes wait staff will not work as hard for people they think are going to tip poorly. Another thing that seems to be true of the poor customers in other areas, the poor tipper also has a tendency to be the most demanding customer. It sucks pretty bad to bust your ass for a demanding customer and then receive a crappy tip or no tip at all.
Is as of now, unknown. Many great discoveries in science and technology came about because of investigations elsehwhere. The point is, we don't know what we will discover or how it will influence other investigations or discoveries. We do know that almost all scientific investigations lead to discoveries in other areas. That's what makes it worthwhile.

It's mind boggling.
Eventually all species will become extinct.
You didn't think this planet was going to last forever did you?

"I guess my ass broke it"
So I can emulate my Tivo on a PC that I build myself?
You have to be very careful with claims about being able to emulate ANY hardware, or being able to run ANY code.
But if they can, I'll use it.
Now I'll go RTFA and see how stupid I am.
Kerry almost immediately denounced the Hitler ad.

"Gear up for the new miniseries by watching all 88 episodes of Farscape, airing in order every weekday from 9AM-4PM ET/PT, Oct. 1 through Oct. 15"
This is when a DVR comes in handy. I'm glad I bumped up the storage on my Tivo.
So how do they keep track of their kids if they have more than three?

Expect Darl McBridge to sue you for publishing his business plan.
