Slashdot posting PR for closed-source windows-only games? This is truly a a new low.
There are tons of open source graphics packages and frameworks they could have used.
"All" for the better? How come Sony is the good guy in PS2 stories, but the bad guy in music stories? It's the same company. The money is going the same place.
Sony will use the money they make from the "extra PS2"s to implement stronger piracy controls on music CDs, movies, and media, and to fund their advocacy of SSSCA (Sony owns a movie studio, too, you know..)
Agreed, scifi's dune series rocked. In my opinion it is much better and more watchable than the original Dune movie. It's also longer, so that you can actually understand more about what is going on. And of course the effects are far better.
I guess you've never tried to read the small text they print at the bottom of commercials?
How about the TV guide channel? The text has to be HUGE just so it can be read.
Actually there is now the Radeon 7000 Mac Edition, which supposedly can be had for ~$100.
This is a cheap(er) card intended for folks wanting more monitors.
It has one DVI, one VGA, and It COMES WITH a DVItoVGA adapter if you want 2 VGA monitors.
I worked on this movie. It filmed at Raleigh studios in Manhattan Beach (south of LAX) where they took over several stages between Nov 99 and Feb of 2000.
The set was huge, and pretty amazing. They built the entire subway inside two sound stages, along with some sci-fi buildings (the hospital).
Apparently they had distribution problems which prevented its release. We also worked on Evolution, which started filming several months AFTER Impostor finished, but obviously was released a while ago.

Your friend's G4 powerbook *IS* Unix.
Here is hardware and links to linux software to interface with the OBD-II connector.
Sorry, wrong. :) On OS X you don't have to show hard drives on the desktop. With this option on, only removable drives will show on the desktop.
Mirror slashdotted, too.

I don't know terry goodkind, but "Dobby" is a house-elf from the Harry Potter series. Is there also a house-elf named Dobbie in Goodkind?
" If you're making music, you can webcast your music."
.25c/stream/hour.
.. Unless you want to webcast it in MPEG4, in which case you will have to pay
Hopefully that one will be beaten, as it isn't final yet either.

To "ensure" lower internet costs, not "insure".

And Macs are "all PCI based" and you can easily upgrade them as well. C'mon, think.
The scariest issue here is that someone is getting their news from *AOL*.
Why isnt this appearing on the front page? (other than the small link). I have my prefs showing science.
It is not really any trouble at all to open up alt.binaries.e-books and grab the harry potters. They are posted quite often.
Well said. The Harry Potter books are really, really well written and entertaining, even for non-kids.

They have realized this. The Apple iMac and the Cube both use convection cooling.
PC makers aren't as creative.
