    Popup blocking does not stop ads on webpages, you can put all the banner ads any advertiser can want. You just cant force my browser to open windows.

    Lets get this straight...
    NO WEB AUTHOR HAS THE RIGHT TO DO ANYTHING OUTSIDE THE WEB PAGE ITSELF.

    Whether it is cookie, a popup, or whatever. The web page owners right to control what I view ends at the borders of the web page. Any website owner who uses code to deliberately bypass my popup blocker is hacking my web browser and I should be able to prosecute both the web page owner(as an accessory) and the person who put the code in there. Is that clear enough?

    Patenting forcefeedback tech is not the same thing as patenting the expression of an idea, there is actual physical hardware involved. Its not "obvious" , there may be prior art but if they invented the technology...more power to them. Just because we dont like the patent doesnt mean its not valid.

    Sony is not a helpless babe here, they just have to settle their claim...and pay up some license fees.

    It would seem if the LOC is going to have X number of Petabytes on computers...why not have a second copy stored AWAY from DC. If something were to happen to DC at least we would have backup copies of everything...and we probably should have a separate backup location at a third site.

    Many older laptops can run fine on win95.

    1) She looks more like wonder woman
    2) shes a better actress than either of them
    3) She has a bigger box office draw than either of them
    4) Shes more physically impressive
    5) Shes got the right color hair...without dye
    6) Shes only 26...shes young enough for a sequel

    I thought running the betas and giving feedback was a form of contributing to the project. I have 1.8 beta 2 running on my computer now. I upgraded expecting to get a 1.8 final anyday now.

    Could you imagine if Linux Users and Microsoft were working TOGETHER to make patent laws more sensible, getting rid of submarine patents and making software patents harder to get. Obviously we would like it if software patents were scrapped altogether, but at least with a united front we could target the worst abuses first. Microsoft doesnt need software patents, it has plenty of protection through copyright.

    Geezus you guys put out a Beta version and then
    say "oh we never intended to put out a Final 1.8"

    BULLCRAP...and they KNOW its bullcrap!

    You have a 1.8 that is 99% done, FINISH IT!.

    This is not Windows 3.1...This product had a new beta put out LAST MONTH! The nightlys say "Beta 2"

    Take out the unimplemented features, fix the bugs release 1.8 and call it a day.

    The only reason the PC became the defacto standard was because they didnt kill off their clones.

    Apple even without windows would not dominated because Apple in the 80s and early 90s was DUMB!

    It is likely another company would have created a GUI system for the PC even if microsoft didnt. An example being GEOS which came out BEFORE windows for the Commdore 64. Geos was ported to the PC about the same time as Windows came out...had there been no windows it is likely GEOS would have become the defacto GUI for DOS based systems. In such an event...GEOS and either Microsoft or DRDOS would have merged.

    and Voila... GEOS 95. :)

    Have a player for (windows and linux) of course...and the player could fastforward but the commercial would still be on the screen during the fastforward or when you pause. Have Blipverts...commericals that last 5 seconds.

    Advantage...the programs would be free not PPV. Theres no reason why you should have to pay for something the public gets for free if youre willing to watch the version with commercials.

    A TIVO would be useful to me...The tivo monthly service is of no use to me. Without the subscription I can justify spending $200 for tivo and programming my own channels. I dont need the $12 a month service!

    Pop up blockers are security feature...anyone who writes a program that deliberately circumvents a security is liable under the DMCA. Anyone who distributes code that does the same thing is also liable.

    If the corporate boys are going to screw us using the DMCA why cant we do the same thing?

    They are taking a form of the HIV virus and wrapping it inside a virus wrapper of a virus that is carried by BIRDS AND INSECTS! Imagine if they made a mistake...you could potentially have a version of the AIDS virus that could be transmitted by insects or worse yet...spreadable by birds...undercooked poultry could have a whole new problem!
