It's all good, karma's not worth much these days;) I just wish editors would take a second and use the search feature before posting a story.
Maybe instead of posting the above, I should have taken my own advice and just posted a bunch of insightful, funny, and informative comments from the last discussion!:)
Wow, TROLL! I thought it was pretty funny! Someone's being really free with the mod points... or maybe we have a mac fanboy editor on the loose here =)
It's a well known facts... they're fanatical, they love to say "we're better," and having numbers to back up that claim means a LOT to them. You're absolutely right, it's comparing apples and oranges, but the argument always turns into "which is the tastier fruit."
I just called the number, 1-877-77-LINUX, and apparently there's one person who knows the technical specs on the PC, and he was away from his desk!! I was curious what (if any) dvd/cd drive it had, what graphics card it had, if it came with a floppy drive, and if there was any ethernet option.
I'm about to leave work, so someone else try calling and finding out =)
Professor Urton's study found there are, theoretically, seven points in the making of a khipu where the maker could make a simple choice between two possibilities, a seven-bit binary code. For instance, he or she could choose between weaving a string made of cotton or of wool, or they could weave in a "spin" or "ply" direction, or hang the pendant from the front of the primary string or from the back. In a strict seven-bit code this would give 128 permutations (two to the power of seven) but Professor Urton said because there were 24 possible colours that could be used in khipu construction, the actual permutations are 1,536 (or two to the power of six, multiplied by 24).
Am I the only one who really didn't like Snood? Something about the FEEL of the game - it just wasn't well executed. That, and the fact that the game concept has been done a thousand times before.
Involved, but not necessarily responsible. Why single them out, when are are others on the board? Like I mentioned in another post, I wouldn't be surprised if this change was pushed by the hardware vendors on the board more than by MS.
Microsoft isn't the only member of the USB Forum. Isn't it more likely that this idea was backed by hardware vendors, so they could move their old hardware, instead of by Microsoft.
There was a point in time where I was getting LOADS of spam on ICQ - every day, I'd get a dozen or two dozen spam messages. It was ridiculous. The spam, combined with the fact that AIM lets you chat with people using AOL itself (like a lot of people were/are) and it's not surprising that AIM increased in popularity so fast. Now, I only get one or two pieces of ICQ spam a day, and AIM spam maybe once a week, but almost NONE of my friends use ICQ anymore.
Part of the reason I use trillian is for the SecureIM feature... I want my conversations to be encrypted if possible, but otherwise I don't want any trace of them to exist on my harddrive. Logging should be OFF by default, in trillian.

A simple search for "ipv6" before posting the article would have been nice =)
:)
Karma-seekers, just go to the original post and repost all insightful comments!

Just make sure you get the network installation - express installation doesn't download the files, just the installer.
~Berj
As with other OS service packs through Windows Update, you won't be allowed to download/install it without a valid license.

The post makes no sense, the poster obviously didn't even read the article. Whoever modded it up didn't read the article either.
~Berj
Very cool, thanks. You'd think they'd advertise the onboard LAN and TV out and firewire if they had it, wouldn't they!?!

(2^6)*24=1536

... except it's "The Technophile who cried Microsoft" =) Thanks for the clarification.

Check your system properties/hardware, look under "USB" - it'll either say USB 2.0 or USB 2.0....
D'oh =/

~Berj
Here's some info on the USB Forum... there's more than just Intel and MS involved in these decisions.
~Berj
but this way, we have something to pass the time on, at work =)
~Berj
It's just easier to get modded up on /. if you bash MS once or twice, regardless of what you're talking about. Microsoft sucks.
~Berj
I guess I should have read all the other "Emulator" comments before opening my mouth =)
~Berj
Do you think we'll see GC emulators? The more complex the hardware gets, the more difficult it is to write an emulator.

A taser delivers pulses of 5-6 amps (very very short duration pulses.)
