Interesting that they had to pull engineers off OS X to the iPhone. Though, IMO, this does lend some credibility to what SJ said about the iPhone running Mac OS X. Honestly I thought that was a load of bollox. But, after the aTV hacks and this, I'm somewhat more optimistic wrt actually seeing more Mac OS X out there.
It's a test. EMI wants to see if DRM-Free will fail. The $0.30 is just enough disincentive for the customer to buy the new tracks. If DRM-Free sales are lackluster, EMI can point and say "look, DRM Free doesn't work!"
Q: What's the difference between a Scotsman and a Rolling Stone? A: The Rolling Stone says "Hey you, get off my cloud!" The Scotsman says "Hey McCloud, get off my ewe!"

About 300k PS2s and 244k PS3s - just wow. That's almost 550k consoles Sony sold in January alone. Man, last place never looked so good!
Nintendo
Wii - 436K
DS - 239K
GBA - 179K
GC - 34K total: 888K consoles. Oops, I forgot ridiculous rounding... OMGz! Nintendo sold about 1 Million consoles!
Sony
PS3 - 244K
PS2 - 299K
PSP - 211K total: 754K consoles. Did I even need to mention the GameCube?
And, use some common sense and these numbers look insane:
The embarrassing part is that the PS2 is selling the PS2 (still!). God help you when your old console outsells your new console (which is backwards compatible). On a positive note though, the software sales show that people are finally buying a PS3 to play games, so at least it's easier to see past all the inflated bought-to-flip holiday sales.
Along these lines, if the seeds are stored near the arctic, how far is it to arable land? Being post-apocalyse and all, will people even be able to transport these seeds to the fields before they thaw/rot/become irradiated? I'm assuming there'll be a lot of seeds needed to transport, will we have vehicles capable of crossing the varied terrain between the arctic and the farmland?
Will I be modded down for only having questions in my post?
The Dynajet 2.6 is also undergoing development of mobile dry toilets featuring its Merit (3). Are these turbine powered toilets really a useful invention?
On second thought, never mind. I love japanese TV.
Here in Super Suburbia San Jose where pedestrians are second class citizens, man v. car (SUV) incidents are all but too common. And the police crack down... on the pedestrians. It must be nice to have only about 1 death every couple of months. Here in the south bay we average 1 death every couple of weeks. San Francisco is only a little bit better with a bit more than 1 death per month.
All that needs to be done is have a "second face" to wikipedia, where the article visible to the general population is the "last good version" okayed by an administrator or long-time user So... work on the HEAD then freeze and release on a branch/tag? Will we be needing unit tests for our edits too?

As nice as Okami and Viewtiful Joe were, I hardly think they're indicative of the ultimate fate of "original games". It really depends on how you measure success and how that metric is balanced with the production investment. If you are expecting a Zelda-esque game like Okami to be Zelda you're deluding yourself. I don't think there's any reason not to believe games won't follow movies in this regard. We'll see "original games" come down in cost, fill niches, and find a nice equilibrium between development cost and returns.
Now only if we could get foreign games as easily as foreign films...
If you can correctly identify zombies in a botnet, would it be unethical to break into them to kill them (erase the HD, trash the system, whatever to take it down)? Seeing as how the user doesn't care or know that his machine is not under his control why not just force them to reformat it or buy a new one? You could even have it look for others to kill before it self-destructs.
The argument could be made that if Nintendo would just license the right specifications, other companies could build consoles that play Wii games. And, in fact, they have done this for a past console.
No format that we understand or are able to decipher. We are, today, able to somewhat predictably measure and manipulate brain activity with respect to function and memory. Just because we lack the computational power and knowledge required to decipher the format doesn't mean it doesn't exist. And, even if the raw data collected from one brain isn't directly compatible with that of another, doesn't mean it is impossible to translate it from one to the next given enough measurement data and computational power and intelligence.
"Dignity" is protected by distorting the image like a fun house mirror. Observers can't differentiate sexy/ugly or even recognize faces. Presumably, if everybody is all stretched out like a clown and unrecognizable, nobody will have their feelings hurt. Though, weapons, however distorted, will still be noticeable.
FTA:
And, when the owner has grown tired of the gismo and binned it, the thin layer of coal will eventually degrade naturally. Is this really even significant? 100 microns are biodegradable; what about the rest of the mostly plastic device?
The patterns in the meat of your brain do not have some kind of universal or raw format. They would be a meaningless mess to another person in a best case scenario. Most likely they would be a painful epileptic seizure. Sorry but when the meat goes so does the memories. I'd start on my memoirs now if I was you. Just because the format isn't documented or understood, doesn't mean it doesn't exist. Besides, the GP was asking for a way to get the information out and read, not to be used as-is. Even if it's only partial, I can see the value in that.
Well you could've at least warned me. You know I hate the zap... when they die. It just brings down your whole day!

oh man, if only this were funny.
Toyota Priuses (Prii?) and many other cars do dead reckoning in their onboard GPS systems already. (to varying degrees of success might I add)

Sony is losing money for every PS3 sold based on manufacturing costs alone, never mind all those units sitting on store shelves. Sony won't even see respite from the bleeding until the 65nm process-shink slated for late this year.
Nintendo makes a profit on every console they sell.

Can you Dell what the Rock is cooking?
How much does a fucking clue cost these days? Somehow $1mil seems absurdly low for training. There's just so much stupidity to overcome.
