    Which *is* work. Valuable work if you want the company to stay afloat and you stay employed.

    You would be surprised how much actual work gets done at those off-site events. Human network is not to be discounted by some stupid disgruntled lower minion as yourself.

    A lot of new business ( or keeping old business ) is often generated in these sessions. This helps you out as then you get to keep your job, since there is something for your sorry ass to do.

    With no way to use it. How many of these 'poor' have a TV and network access ( assuming that these can be used standalone in some way like most every other generic USB android device )?

    Worse yet, how many have anther computer to plug it into as its being pushed in the BBC article? And if they did, why spend 7 dollars more which might be a 1/2 a year wage in the area?

    While a flawed idea, at least things like the OLPC came complete and functional out of the box and wouldn't be a huge disappointment to the child.

    Clueless do-gooder idiots.

    No matter how competent you are, or wrong it is to do it, when the guy that writes your paycheck says 'do this', you have 3 basic choices:

    1 - Do it ( and if you are smart, document it )
    2 - Leave
    3 - Refuse ( and get fired )

    Also not everyone has option 2 available to them on a whim, so often times 1 and 2 are tied together, in a delayed fashion. 3 is never the best option.

    I used the term *doctor* for a reason, and did not want to limit it to "physician". I have seen this same attitude in other industries as well, far too often.

    And sure, not all educated people are like that, but i do tend to see a lot of them get a big head at a particular point.

    This is why you have IT staff, and you let them do their jobs. Typical "i'm a doctor, i went to school and know everything" mentality.

    Too bad they didn't fine the actual doctor instead of the hospital as it was his personally irresponsible actions that caused the breech, not hospital policy.

    As a society becomes more technologically advanced there is less and less actual physical work being done by most of its citizens.

    Couple that with more readily available food ( both good and bad kinds ), and a general lack of personal control, being overweight makes logical sense in many parts of today's world.

    True, but they use the same process after they harass you a bit; simply filing a suit which normally gets an automatic garnishment. ( hard to fight a contract breach in court... )

    I guess I dont mean people cant at all, but a lot have a hard time saving up for it, since most are already paying the 'extra' for the phone in their hand now and many are low on funds out of the gate

    Sure, its hard to physically reclaim, but filling suit is not expensive to get you to pay for it, due to breach of contract. Normally they dont even have to show to court, just file the papers and garnish wages.
