    Even if you were right ( which you arent, they are just hollow words in a total vacuum ) have you ever heard of just closing the window, or ignoring the sender? ( fake ) Problem solved.

    Im sorry but anyone that is bugged by a virtual bully is a wuss and needs serious mental help and will never be able to function as a normal human in society..

    Now, if you want to talk about a person in your face screaming at you, sure, pure words can be effective against lesser people as its harder to walk away if they follow you screaming. ( I'm not discussing physical action, that is a totally different subject and that sort of bullying is real, and wrong. ).

    Some of us are happy with Jaguar. ( like us old G3 powerbook users.. )

    I don't see that big of a difference in daily life ( business stuff, no games ) between Jaguar on my PB or Tiger on my G4. its all about the applications in daily life, not the interface.. And the core OS changes under the interface aren't noticeable at all.

    That is the logical conclusion if you keep pushing for the same 'rights' that regular hourly workers have. Then god help the industry as it will collapse under its own weight.

    Note: I'm not against unions in the right situations as they do have their place. The IT field just isn't one of those situations.

    It depends on the ISP. Mine, we have semi-static IP's Ive had the same address for 2 years. Pretty easy to tell its my house.

    Technically, you are responsible for *all* traffic on your account, so if you neighbor is using your wifi to download something, its still your fault and are liable according to your contract. Now, does that contract extend to the legal system for IP violations? Thats yet to be seen. But if it does, 'i didnt do it', will no longer be a valid legal argument.

    But i bet its much like it is in many states: If you loan your car out and its used to transfer drugs, and they get caught, you lose your car. The fact you didnt know the friends intention is just too bad. Your wife selling drugs on the side out of the house and you dont know? They can take your house an everything in it. ( no, im not saying drug running is the same as an IP violation, but it does set a potential precedent of seizures whicn can translate into financial responsibility for 'loaning' out your connection )

    I did say that their method of getting evidence is questionable, and i agree it will be hard to make stick in court..

    However, my point was that the sharing is actally taking place in most of the cases. The original poster seemed to think that the violations wernet really taking place, just because the methods/tactics for detection/ID are bogus.

    Those 'dead lines' are often automated dialer's. Once they get a connection they notify the first available person.

    I think they are banned here in my area. If you are going to bug me, you have to do it yourself :)
