  1. More garbage on VMware May Violate Linux Copyrights · · Score: 1

This nonsence is really getting old.

Who really cares if there is some copyrighted code in there? Really, no one cares but the attorneys.

  2. New Technology? on New Chip-cooling Technology · · Score: 2, Insightful

Hmm then what is this 'Ionic breeze' thing sitting beside me that is blowing air around my room with no fans or other moving parts? Or the industrial electrostatic cleaners that have been around for decades longer?

New application of really old technology would be a bit more accurate.

  3. Well considering even our planet began by congealing particles in space, why is this even a discussion point? Of course we came from 'space'.

  4. Not short on funds on RIAA Short on Funds? Fails to Pay Attorney Fees · · Score: 1

  6. "good enough" on Why is Microsoft Patching XP? · · Score: 1

Thats one reason VHS won out over Beta.. For the average joe "good enough" is how they live their lives, and they make up most of any large consumer market.

Ya, that inspires confidence in his other findings.

  8. From a long term audiophile: on Does Going Digital Mean Missing Music? · · Score: 1

While it is true that MP3 ( or cd, ) doesn't really have the same quality of sound as ultra high end analog, it is 1000x more convenient, and sounds 'good enough' to get by.

  9. No, it isnt. on US Spy Agencies See Bloggers as Journalists · · Score: 1, Insightful

Its the government, there is *always* an angle.

  11. Re:So... on US Spy Agencies See Bloggers as Journalists · · Score: 0

I bet in the long run it will be a bad thing. THe government doesnt do anything out of the good for the people, so you have to assume there is a catch here.

Perhaps there are ultimately more restrictions if you are labled a journalist then you are a private citizen. There HAS to be an angle here.

Right, there may be a minor bloody nose durng this fight, ( with how everything is patented somewhere by someone these days, that cant be avoided ) but i dont expect a major fight coming out of this.

Besides, sun isnt a bad company. They have done a lot for the commercial OS world, CPU architecture, open source, pretty much everyone. We really shouldnt wish ill will to them.

The probem is that its step one towards mandatory filtering, with the government down there deciding what is allowed thru and what isn't.

Plus if ou get caught tryng to access something forbidden, the ISP just might have to report you.

  16. Re:Is that all they're offering? on Google Rolls Out Online Storage Services · · Score: 1

Well, my local storage is available via my home cable internet connection anywhere google-data would be ( and securely too ). I can also run any application i want remotely, and im not stuck with what some 'hosting service' has to offer.

So it sounds like it was a relevant post to me.

  25. WTF? on Microsoft Says "War on Terror" is Overblown · · Score: 0

Since when does a *software company* get to comment on global issues such as this? Are they trying to assume the role of the federal government now?

Don't we have a new rule in place that if you are 'in the way' of the war you get sent to jail? Can we send these idiots away now? I don't care if they are right or wrong, they are an American company and should support the country they owe their existence to..
