    Except its NOT a opensource FPGA project. Its an open source Software project, to run on a FPGA.

    The hardware is a commercial product.

    I think a year for 'obsolescence' of a product generation isn't too accurate, more like 5 years.. i can still buy xilinx products 2 generations back ( or the current compatible generation )

    Sure they are cool, but this is only some guys throwing some IP at a commercial eval board.

    Nothing to get overly exited about, really.

    ( and i thought microblaze was $$ anyway.. there are free alternatives out there, such as Leon3, or OpenRISC )

    Sites like this could simply be 'blacklisted' if no ISP wil pick them up due fears of prosecution.

    Good way to restrict 'evil' information dissemination to the masses.

    What is next, 'hate' sites being cut loose? Or 'independent freedom talk' being removed from the digital landscape?

    It always has been, pirating what the rest of the world uses is cheaper then trying something 'different'.

    Not saying its the better choice, but its the 'cheaper' one in the long run if you want to compete.

    Since when has the US Constitution meant much to the government? For as long as i have been alive they just 'interpret' it away when its inconvenient to them.

    The whole idea of changing the rules then penalizing you from actions in the past should be banned.

    How the hell are you supposed to predict when congress will get a burr up its butt add that to your future business plan so you don't get put out of business ( or goto jail )?

    The reason they arent sold by the same 'marketoids' as you put it, is that they are not the same product.

    One is business class with guaranteed QoS. The other, isnt.

    I never meant that, I only meant that anything else seems to be a commercial deadend due to the market dominance.

    Having a compatibly layer will help prevent it from being a doomed project/product.

    So i assume its software compatible with 90% of the code that the 'general public' uses?

    It did say 'general purpose' and if you try to create something beter but different, you get slapped down eventually ( like PowerPC Apples. )
