It would be just as easy to use a FPGA with a SoC on it and get something more powerful ( and useful ). Its also pretty easy to make a case out of *gasp* plastic, instead of wood.
Large VGA screens are obtainable on the hobbiest market.
But hey, he looks like he was bored and wanted to do something from scratch.. more power to him.
The quickie mart camera is a private business watching its own private lot. ( though i agree it is hard to restrict to JUST the lot, the intent is there at least )
What we are discussing here is government funded cameras wastching public areas 'Just beacuse something *might* happen, someday.... this is a far different thing.
1 - relying on a *beta* product ( what, are they nuts? ) 2 - relying on a proprietary product ( schools should teach choice, and encourage experimentation. This is counter productive )
If you cross the 'criminal threshold' due to bogus padding of the 'loss' ( what ever that amount was, i forget ), and are convicted, you do lose many of your rights for life.
But then again, when 99% of your citizens are criminals, they are easier to regulate and control.
What about those of us that dont throw our old hardware out? I still have my first apple II in the garage.. so i get screwed like when i buy a new tire but ask to keep the old one for the spare?
These 'mega rich' people are just out of touch with the rest of the world. A 2000$ oversized ( rather clunky looking ) PDA? I dont think so.
Ever hear of the newton ? Oh wait, this is Paul Allen, of course he didnt watch watch Apple was doing, and is doomed to repeat the same mistakes.
I didnt see a free edition, so ya, id say this is an ad.
Or they can just stop filing each bill with so much garbage to make them so complex.
Oh, and stop passing so many damned bills...
Its just the trademarked name, slapped on 'yet another clone pc'.
Beacuse MSO the defacto standard.
OO, is not.
Try me.. I have a nice new 45ACP to test out.
Typos are a part of life, you might as well get used to it.
It all depends on if it helps you or hurts you..

No of course you dont *need* it, its entertainment. its optional.
But, that lack of 'need' didnt stop the *AA's from becoming some of the most powerful entities on the planet.
That way my thought exactly. Why are they acting suprised?
We little people are just consumers, 'go out and consume and pay us'.
I did say *should*.. I've been thru the college mill decades ago so i know how it actually works. But i can always wish for better.
And some good books on both analog and digital theory.
So for a couple hundred bucks you have a virtually unlimited 'electronic kit'.
1 - relying on a *beta* product ( what, are they nuts? )

Umm not if you paid for extended support.
If you have contracted extended support then no, that should be free. Thats what 'extended support' should mean.. they support you.
Now, if you want a patch for a product that is OUT of support ( like NT4, or exchange 5.5 ), then a resonable fee should apply.
Its the government.. WE get to pay.. its called taxes, remember?
Cost is no object when its not your money.
Well, someone must have redefined what an OS is.
Dont forget the upgrading of the hardware, that also takes time and expense.
I figure the 'upgrade' to vista will take longer then it did from 2k to XP. 5 years more likely.
Guess you never used Ghost.. ( yes i realize they BOUGHT that product, but it is there now. )
:)
Or PCA ( again, another acquisition ).
Or Altiris.. err wait, that product sucks anyway
Do they develop anything on their own or just eat other companies now?
If they are going to use the HD versions, then they might as well not bother.
I dont care what protective case you put it in, a 20000 feet drop is going to kill a mechincal hardddrive.

1 - what the *aa's are doing are wrong, regardless of any potential violation of copyright. 2 wrongs do NOT make a right.
2 - I dont believe in IP rights, so personally *I* am entitled, but that wasnt my point.

How long is it going to take before the public has had enough of this garbage and put a stop to it?
it could be stopped tomrrow.
