Being a fellow 'blessed' microsoft team member, all he has to do is walk across the hall, and ask that his wonderful application gets the 'fast lane access' to the file system.
You know there will be provisions for THEIR apps to do such a thing since they are 'trusted', but deny others the same direct access 'for your security' .
And if you honestly believe that a simple election can reverse the tide of decades of degradation of our constution, you are sadly mistaken. Regardless of who gets in office, the trend is the same. So you cant blame one party/person over another. They are ALL corrupt.
What is the answer? I'm not sure at this stage of the game, but just a 'revolution at the polls' is NOT it.
Nothing.. Being bought by Google will pretty much kill the idea off before the dust settles. Well, actually the lawyers will do it, but now that google bought it, the lawyers smell money and nothing stops a hungry lawyer... Even the law as they will just get it changed in their favor.
Attorneys are the most destructive force in the world today, far out stripping any countries 'armed force' out there, and hell bent on destroying society.
Remember that the burden of proof is much lower ( and pretty much reversed ) in a civil case.
you walk in with a empty drive, you are liable to appear guilty, AND you cant prove otherwise. You are also liable to get hit with a criminal charge of tampering if the judge is in a bad mood that day.
No, seriously. At this point who really cares if Microsoft makes it even harder to legally use their products. The pirates wil just get around the problem the next day. Its us people that are trying to support a company that suffer. Pissed off customers will look elsewhere for their IT solutions.
I stopped using their garbage at home long long ago, and NEVER recommend their products. Even when it means an extra hoop for the customer to jump thru, its still a better deal in the long run to 'just say no' to the empire and their ludicrous actions of late..
He did nothing wrong by running a tracker server, and sets a bad precedent. So what if the users committed copyright violations? Lets be consistent here, and arrest everyone that has produced any software that can be used for anything wrong. ( that includes IP stack, the interface, graphic viewers, everything )
What is next 'thought crime'? "yes i thought about doing something bad,so that's the same as doing it, right?"
And its so good that we have solved *real* crimes and we are now safe and have time to go after this pansy ass garbage. Last i heard we still had entire countries wanting us dead.. Where the hell is the sense of priority gone
Since for the last few years ( decades? ) all the industry puts out has been garbage, at some point all the decent music will either be purchased or copied. Perhaps that point has finally been reached.
( note, this doesnt not apply to indie bands, they still produce good music. )
That only applies to US citizens while in the country:)
On a more serious note, i dont think that label really applies anymore. we are now the land of the 'sort of free'.or the 'more free then you'.. or some derivative of it.
Thats a pretty bad analogy they gave there, about violatng warranty.
So what if i want to violate my warranty? i can if its my walkman, with vista, i cant. I cant do anything that isnt blessed by microsoft ( basically all that is blessed is to feed the beast with more cash )
I paid for it, it on my computer. If i want to totally trash it its my right. Can i call them for help afterwards? No of course not, but it should be my right to do what i want with it.
That is how the US used to be too, but is slowly changing as more well defined passages between states is formed, ripe for 'enforcement'. Today, we have tax issues across state lines, and other similar rules that are different across 'borders'. So there is incentive.
Not saying it will happen overnight, but with the way the leaders of the world are today, i bet it happens sooner then we all think
That is one of the reasons i like the ipods over the alternatives.
Why is it in todays world companes cant leave well enough alone? if it works, they dont NEED to break it, just to push out new product.
Look people, you got great software for free.. so you have upgrade problems, big deal.
Just be glad you didnt pay 300 bucks for the 'upgrade' that eats your system. Just reinstall like it was suggested and be happy.
Geesh.
The 'bad guys' always win, regardless of what color they wear..
He shoulnt have needed to hide.
The fact that we have to hide to utilize our free(?) speech right is a bad thing.
Bullshit. BOTH parties are bad. If you cant see thru the fog in your eyes created by the media, then you are an idiot.
shhhhh you are sounding informed and intellegent, if you keep that up you might derail some of the bush bashing going on...
( except that i dont believe that ' we the people ' can influence anything with our vote at this point )

I can hardly believe this is happening.
Time to head to the store for ammo and rations. Bad times are coming.
Isnt that soon to be disabled/removed due to DRM/attorneys ?
Oh, they will figure it out. Its just they will still claim its piracy, to help push the anti-digital-freedom agenda along.
Looks like the lawyers took over there too.

Cost the same if they are in court, or sitting twiddling their thumbs.
Freedom is soon to follow.

Why did he plead guilty in the first place.

At least with a service pack, you can download it and install it on non-connected computers.
I guess they dont want customers that arent 'on-line', where they can maintain control.
Hey, its their right to be a racist.. Just as much as some muslim has a right to bitch about christians.
"See only we are secure"
phffft
