Yes, space is big. But 1300 is just the start, and from my understanding there are 'preferred' paths out into orbit, so i'm sure that a lot of this junk isn't exactly trivial. And unlike hitting one of those beetles and walking away from the accident, you don't get a 2nd chance up there.
That may or not be true, but the fact remains that someone may have violated another's patent. If you don't go after them, then you lose rights to said patent. Besides, if you are a company and feel someone is violating your IP, it would be silly not to do something about it.
It is a complete functioning OS, as shipped from the project.
3rd party Items such as a GUI are not part of the OS, they are user-land applications and provided as a convenience.
I never said 'complete desktop ( or server ) system' since that means different things to different people. i was discussing 'complete OS'. Which it is.
Or neither. This is a core construct in our society, and each side should get equal time and the individual should choose which they believe in.
Not offering both sides to a particular issue for debate is anti-science in itself.
I happen to think creationism is a crock, but that's my decision and i wouldn't want either side forced on to me so i was unable to make that decision ( forced by the absence of the other )
More unrealistic demands by the government to drive consumer prices up on what is for most the 2nd most expensive purchase of their lives, even more if you consider the lifespan of the average car compared to a home and that in theory a home actually appreciates in value.
But then again, by then there may not be an economy at all, so car prices will be the least of our worries.
Most consumers want little portable devices and media consumption displays, not general purpose computers.
Sure there are some , but this isn't the 90's where *everyone* wanted a desktop ( or 2 ). And those that do still want them, mostly now realize that last years model is good enough to not to fork out for a new one just because its shiny and the marketing people say they want to..
Sorry folks, its 2012, time to adapt, or stick to the business markets.
If you have a large enough supply of moving water, you could build turbines and tie them directly to the compressors. Or i guess even wind turbines, or a bunch of people on a treadmill:)
Even if you used electricity, you can generate that cleanly and not require coal or NG. Sure, clean is not as efficient, but just saying that they are not your ONLY option.
As long as we have discrete logic, old computers and silicon like FPGA, ( and someday leaked 'DoD' approved development machines when its impossible to get hardware ), the true hardcore will always have something to play with.
But eventually i agree, when 99.9% of the world are in their walled gardens, and the risk factor of getting caught is too high even for most of the hardcore, "we" lost.
But that said, for 90% of the world, its what they wanted, and will be happy.
Its just one step closer to end game, banning all media unless it comes thru them directly and everyone pays a tax that goes directly to them, regardless if you consume media or not.
Oh, and make any violation a criminal case so they don't have to spend another time to go after people.
"Look at me, i drink beer just like joe sixpack. Vote for me"
disgusting pandering.

So how many total? + all the junk flying around? Its a wonder we can actually get off this rock and not be obliterated by our garbage along the way.
Odd, i find it the exact opposite. People who are confused with android and windows pick up how to use a idevice rather quickly, on their own.

They don't trust Google, so they made their own stuff.
I dont see a problem with it at all.
Moron.

Linux is a kernel. Nothing more, nothing less. What makes it usable are 3rd parties that bundle it with other required components.
OSX is a complete system as shipped from one vendor. If you want to talk kernels, there a Mach kernel in OSX.
Same for BSD, its a complete system shipped from one 'organization', not just a ( important ) core component.
Not going to debate if its a good idea or not, as ISPs with their non-neutral bandwidth limits have eliminated this sort of option anyway.
To kill off cybercafes and free wifi. ( oh, and anonymity of its citizens who want to protest their government )
As weather effects my cable connection ..
If you have to ask the question then you shouldn't be messing with it in the first place and should leave it up to the professionals.
Eradicate every bit of data on that drive. Start over. There should be zero debate on this.

2 species, on the same planet int the same general point in history come up with a similar process for a similar problem. *yawn*
We already do, and we don't need yet another tax to be squandered and wasted.
Unless you are paying via bitcoin or money orders or something, it would be trivial to see who is paying your bill and come visit you if need be.
Virtual machine. Problem solved, with little fuss.
Maybe they can develop a *nix version that doesn't require the adware.
Then it wont be free. Bills have to be paid somehow.

Ya, by the CAR, but what about where you are getting the air?
I suppose it would work in a small town commute, but i think id rather have a battery powered car instead.
