Hrm, I disagree. Those are all legitimate enhancements. If you don't want them, they're not baked into the operating system. On Windows, even though Aero is pretty (like Compviz) it's part of the OS, and is always there. Same with the browser. On the other hand, SUSE's parent company, Novell, has signed agreements with Microsoft, which is disconcerting. I myself run Windows at home, as I am realistic, no current OS is as good as the one which does what I need, and Windows does that. Linux, BSD, Solaris, Sky, Menuet, etc are trying to, but just simply don't. On the other hand, I trust the checks and balances of a user community driven project over that of a corporate committee. As a consequence, my Windows runs a lot of Open Source software, or paid software made by independent developers (like yourself).

My good friend just had this issue, he upgraded his PC and online activation wouldn't work. He had to give a 64 digit number to the tech on the phone and then had to receive a 32 digit number. The alternatives are, not wasting a moment of your life trying to relay a sequence of numbers to some guy in another country so you can use something you bought and paid for a license to use.

But really, I was wondering what sort of massive force could cause such a correlation. My own observations seem to indicate that certain structures are present at every level of scale. From fractal lattice crystals, to fluid dynamics ripples, perhaps such a structure reaches even higher to galaxies and superclusters.

Maybe the whole universe is in one of these structures, held together by interference patterns of gravity waves creating "sockets" in which large structures can "fit" and create sympathetic wave deformations.

They didn't shell-out to it. They compiled it and wrapped it in their own libraries, possibly modifying the source in the process. Many applications use GPL code without a problem, they leave the library as it was originally (or submit changes/source) and include the license. It's not a big deal. The GPL is weird though, in that using libraries do sometimes require you show the way you're using them (the course), but shelling out in no way counts.

I would say there have been a lot of crackpots who have delved into paranormal research, occult, and mysticism, sensationalized it and made it into something few scientists would align themselves with for fear of losing credibility.

I don't think paranormal activities are the result of "God" and "demons" as imagined by our ancestors, it's not religious, it's not mystical. I think the principals which define true "paranormal" events can eventually be well-defined and understood and will have theories and constants and paradigms just like gravity, thermodynamics, and quantum physics..
