- Apple has always had great screens(usually industry leading in metrics that matter). This is a good thing.
- face ID looked ok in the demo's
- new portrait mode is higher quality with more options thanks to the depth sensing tech
- new processor is apparently faster while getting longer battery life (2 hours according to apple)
I think you want this phone! Just squeeze in 2-3 more johns each night and you can afford it.

Apples version doesn't go right around the edges like the samsung phones. People are saying that's a negative but I actually don't like that curved display on the edge, it looks like the image warps as it goes over the edge. Would annoy me endlessly in practice.
But yeah i often wondered if the accidental input thing would be an issue. Apple appears to have the palm rejection (accidental input) thing pretty down on the iPad, so I'd guess it will be ok. They pay a lot of attention to that kind of thing.
If you're curious they talk about it at length in the keynote : It actually projects a bunch of dots on your face then measures the distances between them and creates a vector model that is stored as numbers only. Like the guy said, no photos taken or stored.

So Apple's estimates were correct, the battery is fine in the context of estimates under normal use and you were wrong. I don't see one comment here that takes a positive view on this story. Is it really surprising? A company with a fruitful focus on design, customer satisfaction and privacy and appears to continue being pretty successful.
I'm usually impressed that Apple managed to demonstrated the race to the bottom with a cheapest at all costs approach wasn't the only way to succeed in consumer electronics. Google Microsoft and Samsung have been forced to follow and everyone wins. Who cares what happens over the next 10 years. Right now we have an awesome array of gadgets with healthy competing ecosystems to choose from.
You could have just said yes and moved on. There are plenty of benefits that come with making things sleeker (and less upgradable.) but you ignore them all and went right ahead and exaggerating the issues it creates. Lets make a list:
"More prone to failure" The opposite is actually true.
"engineered to be more frustrating" for you? Many people (normal consumers) find the simplicity appealing.
"Apple stuff is purposefully engineers their technology to be prone to failure" This is nonsensical. And rubbish.
"tons of cases of ventilation issues" Rubbish. Sure if you want to overclock or do anything drastically different it may be true.

I've browsed Apple maps extensively in Australia and while the results are not perfect, it's close enough to be an excellent mapping service. Just to be clear it's not as good as Google Maps but is that unexpected?. I have spotted 4-5 errors in total and yes one of them was a town name in the wrong location. These issues did not cause me any problems because i was instinctively aware that Mildura is not in the middle of a salt lake.
The exaggeration of the problems is lame. I'm not defending Apple, but the mapping service is actually pretty good.

I bet there are tonnes of things you use everyday and haven't bothered to understand... For example, can you explain to me the function of a cam shaft? How is it fabricated and to what tolerances? Storage inside the box is so 2012. External arrays via thunderbolt is the way to go.

lol? I'm using a MacPro laptop with a USB port, SD-card slot and a magsafe connecter that does the job... Which one are you using?
