GPS receivers for civilian use are limited in their resolution. Its worse than 10 metres, cerntainly not enough to land a plane (planes use GPS for general navigation, ILS for landing).
A metal object moving over a coil generates and electromagnetic force, idiot. Basic Maxwell equations, elementary school physics, the principle behind hydro-electricity.
I use Google adwords for various sites. Adwords seems to "reward" longstanding customers with lower rates like other businesses. I see the "minimum bid" changing all the time in relation to the mixture of bids for keywords
If you ask google to justify every detail of their pricing, you may as well demand it of oil companies & every other business.
I would ALWAYS choose unix/linux/BSD over a Microsoft OS any day. The underlying unix architecture is just superior.
My production systems have been running Redhat 9 for years with PHP & Perl for ecommerce, Postfix, bind, etc. It "just works", no need for security updates, no need to pay the Microsoft upgrade tax.
You can mount a remote filesystem in KDE without using NFS, ftp, rsync, Samba etc
Just enter in Konqueror
fish://user@yourdomain.com
(yes that is fish) and you will be asked for your ssh password.
Your remote files appear in Konqueror & you can then copy/paste etc to your local filesystem.
Do you read? The article is about open standards (in this case open documents) not open source.

Melanie Wyne runs Initiative for Software Choice which is backed by Microsoft. She is yet another Microsoft shill.
We are seeing expensive proprietrary products (Windows) being replaced by cheaper commodity alternatives (Linux/BSD). The same process has been going on for 200 year since the start of the Industrial Revolution. The encumbents always oppose newer and cheaper technology that is seen as a threat.
But we're very much awake now to these tricks. There's no stopping the replacement of old proprietary technologies by cheaper alternatives. There is no threat to IP and having open standards can only bring down costs.

Talk about a story with no content.
Humph, 99% of the world population is outside the USA & could not care less.

Nonsense. The mechanical device will cause the car to slow down. More energy (gasoline) is required to bring the car up to speed.
These could be placed in high vehicle traffic areas (not just near traffic lights). No moving parts means little maintenance.
Only took Bill 20 years to implement the obvious. How he made an empire out of crap technology is beyond me.
Most motherboards with SATA connectors come with cables now.

This trash is about as irrelevent as Robert Cringely.
I taught C/unix 20 years ago. If Microsoft came up with something better I would admit it. But Microsoft produces rubbish.
Microsoft IS primarily a marketing company, using its position to sell inferior products.

Microsoft's "embrace & extend" is all about creating monopolies.

When Larry counts his $18 Billion I'm sure he'll call you for advice.
I estimate 90% of reviewers have written just one review, for this book. So of the 53 reviews maybe 45 are from the one person/group.
Its obviously L2 cache, not disk cache.
Since the story is devoid of content:
- up to 8 cores, 4 threads per core
- integrated RSA
- 3MB L2 cache
- 90nm process
- 1.2 GHz
Give us a break, a naive 22yo being shocked over a minor commercial decision isnt news.
Why didnt the Morfik web site say that? Its marketing gobblygook.
