    This "story" is just a reference to a patent application.

    Even at 100GHz, the wavelength of microwaves is 3 mm. But sound waves inside a room would cause a surface to vibrate perhaps 0.001 mm. You cant modulate a 3mm wave to record 0.001 mm changes.

    They are trying to take on Dell in the lower end, thru to the SMP "big iron" machines as well.

    You can't compare Oracle (a Boeing 747) to MySQL (a Cessna). But there are a lot more Cesnas sold than Boeings.

    There's a very big niche for smaller DBMSs. Plus MySQL tends to be fast and the feature set is growing.

    What on earth has this go to do with open source? If they mean Linux, all this is saying is that Oracle gurantees it runs on Linux but that has been the case for 5 years. I think the editors should read and understand stories before posting.

    Windows NT was Posix compliant over a decade ago, and Microsoft owned Xenix.

    Microsoft knows as much about unix as anybody. They just want people to buy Microsoft products instead.

    I have a site that "massages' Australian stockmarket data for downloading in various formats. I've been getting adsense income for years. For me, increasing revenue just means adding extra features to the site. Its easier than writing a blog every day.

    I tend to agree.

    eg the Netgear MA111 wifi usb adapter is recognised on boot. Its configures just like an ethernet card, except you can add a WEP key.
    Nice and orthogonal.
