Interesting stuff. Where can I find more information about the things you mention? There are defintely lots of broken things in the western society, no doubt.
Except for the ease of transforming AC to different voltages, what are the benefits? No electrical motors are run directly off the AC grid nowadays without some kind of vector control, and the inductive and capacitive losses in electrical transport is significant. I say go DC. More HVDC for the people. What am I missing?
Is it possible to encode aacPlus files without DRM? If so, why aren't more people doing so, because for what I understand it outperforms both mp3Pro and ogg. Maybe Coding Technologies have patented the shit out of SBR?
This question is rather hypothetical, but what happens if these things are capable of launching thousands of tonnes of cargo in space. Will the Earth spin slower (albeit just little slower) due to loss of the mass?
It's like sitting on a spinning office-chair and then releasing a large weight. The chair will spin slower (I think).
A few years ago I stared a little too long into the sun during a partial eclipse without any eye protection. Result: yellow spots on the retina which would not go away. Not too good.
So I went to the doctor and the first thing they did was to use a new device which scanned my retina for "bumps" created by inflammation. This device used a laser and it scanned in the same way a CRT creates a picture on the monitor glass. The doctor then got a 3d-image of my retina with the "bumps" marked in different colors. Pretty cool.
Seriously, that would be a cool idea. I assume the biggest challenge is all the bandwidth that would be needed. But if wikipedia can do it, so can anyone else. I guess?
You are right that one nuclear reactor was shut down. Strangely enough, it was because the political pressure fron denmark was too large. I guess the danish people want to sell us coal-powered electricity instead...
I am all for using nuclear (at least until something better is researched...nuclear is not optimal), but the statement that we do not have enough power during cold winter is only half true. Yes, we do not have domestic power plants to supply in that case, but on the other hand we have many cables to other countries who could export.
Could it be that the problem with this deregulation (powerlines) is that it is infrastructure? That it is always a problem with deregulating infrastructure like powerlines, railroads (Banverket), roads (Vägverket) etc?
One exception might be telephone lines, but that "success" might be because telephone lines already have severe competition (mobile phones, skype etc.). What do you think?
If this (old) version uses raycasting, what does your new version use? I thought raycasting was THE way of rendering maze-like (a lá wolfenstein 3d) pictures.
I assume lots of simulations have been done to figure out if fish-like movement in water is more efficient than prop-driven ones. Does anybody know the results?

I second this. My FF2 is eating ram like crazy. No add-ons installed.
This is completely offtopic, but I want to know.

Be sure to call Jacques Derrida about this first!!
Why do you have highway-sized roads running through the neighbourhood? Seriously?
They are even possible to use as office chairs. Training your balance is a good thing.
Happens to me too .. don't know why!

This is one cool site with gigapixel images.
One more thing learned, thank you! :-) I always wondered how those pictures were made, now I know.
Hellooo! Our computahs in Europe run twice your speed!
What are you talking about, and how is this related to the parent post??
Hah! Why is his article protected? People trashing it by writing "Ronnie is on roids!" or what? =)
As progster on osnews speculated: "Microsoft wants it for the mobile market and they'll kill the pc version of opera."

"The specification allows for higher bandwidth and refreshes images instead of reloading them, which makes for better performance on the screen."
Anyone??
Stunts rocked!
I am stunned. So smooth and nice feeling. I would be interested in an a deeper explanation of the engine!
blabla...
The assistant replies "Have you tried Windows XP?"
"Yes", the young man answered.
"Excellent", the assistant said. "Because without it there is no way you can play all the latest and coolest games out there."
