Me and my brother both downloasded and played this game, its the SHITS, its got NOTHING on wolfenstien, the models are shit, the textures suck, the interface is STUPID (mystery meat interface), the guns are stupidly unbalanced, the level(s) are boring, theres no classes which equals no proper teamplay, and you walk stupidly slow, you shoot at people but for some strange reason you miss anyway, evne if u hit them dead on, the controls feel sooo crap, you get stuck on door frames, and the voice acting sounds like its come from Goku
now watch as im moderated as a troll even though i brang up these points, PLEASE prove me wrong and tell me why
Id get ready IMO to say goodbye to Direct X itself, ms aren't stupid, once theyve tempted all there developers with new features of direct X which is xbox exclusive, theyll drop Direct X support for the pc, therefore all the gamers who want to play the latest games will go and get an xbox
I find it very intresting that they chose to use Direct X as the first victim, this only lends me to further belive my theory.
Still, perhaps im wrong
I think the whole thing with software design really depends on a few things, how big is the project, how many lines of code, how many developers, and finally, are you ever going to make more new versions?
Bare with me here as i ramble on a bit
I'm a small time coder, i write stuff, it works. the design is in my head, in teams of coding, you definatly atleast need to explain to them waht this code is going to do, thats obvious, but do you really need to take it to the next step and start drawing up diagrams etc? Can you explain it better with the very basic start of the code of your little idea and see them understand it? I do, whenever i work in teams, i comment my code, i write function stubs, and thats it. Most people pick up what i mean really quickly. I design only if for reasons below
If the project is small, theres absolutly no point in doing a design stage, all you need to know, is what must it do.
The amonut of code you think you are going to write is stupidly important, the more code you need to write decides just how much design you are going to do, i consider function stubs to be a design idea. And i dont have any functions in my code unless its over 100 lines, whats the point? if its only 100 lines...
If you are planning on making more versions: scrap all your design parts and just write up a list of requirments, as each version grows, your going to add more and more features, design will come to mean shit, and its all about evolution, for example, i wrote a small php editor, and when i first started it, it was painfully small, 100 lines, it was notepad only allowing you to save bigger files, but as i added version after version, it grew and now, i compare the two, the source is so diffirent, its not funny, i only see 2 LINES from my existing source code, it really does change that much.
Linus is right, software is evolution.
I thought there was an entire damn OS previously on slashdot that could do this, it even had transperant VIDEO windows
That to me is alot more amazing, oh well
To me this sounds wrong:
we kill them off, then we bring them back to life again?
Sounds like asking for trouble in my opinion, still.. I suppose it is fair to give them another chance, but in the famous words
With all these laws being passed left and right towards internet and computer related technologys, i cannot work out which bloody country is the most technology and freedom with technology friendly of them all. Germany used to be my favorite, but with the recent DNS mess, i really dont know
Anyone have any comments on this?
Ive always loved the thrill of a development kernel, i bet linus is very excited, constant bug fixing does get quite annoying.
But ive come to realise the ingenius nature of his development: odd and even numbers beeing stable and unstable respectively, its an ingenius little system, I know that 2.5 has some exciting developments like ALSA being our sound system in the works, but i wonder what else we can look forward to.
Coincidently, does anyone remember the site that popped up when atlast 2.4 kernel was released and we got to predict when we thought 2.6 would come out, id like to see that site again to see what i predicted.
Cheers
What was done right:
The xbox acts as a cooker itself! no need to buy a microwave to warm up that pizza, just put it on the xbox!
Expensive heating is now cut down thanks to the myraid of heat exhauts on the Xbox
Balance your Tv, VCR and kitchen sink on the xbox's overly large service
Use the controller as an inexpensive door stop: big enough for even the heaviest of doors.
With all the versetile uses of the x box, we say use this common daily appliance in your every day life, coming soon: a hack to reverse the exhauts so the xbox doubles as a vacum!
P.s. for those with no humour, yes, this was a joke post.
Probably the best part about Atheos is that he ported Khtml (the konqueror rendering engine) to his OS
for me atleast, and i imagine many others, a good browser is my number uno priority. Its good to see he ported such a sweet engine to his OS
i can imagnie technically it would have been reasonably difficult
Can we also stop with the "why another operating system?" comments? I bet linus heard all of the same drivel when he wrote linux, it didnt apply then, it doesnt apply now
As far as im concerned, ill never critize anything i cant do better (its a stupid policy.. but thats me)
and this guy has done alot better than most
I really wish an open source group would release some sort of sound-graphics-animation libary for windows that directly competes with direct X.
why would it rock?
Simple porting of windows games to linux
One less area Microsoft has a stranglehold on
Games development would be easier for open source programmers
A good games libary for linux
Wed already have 3d and Direct 3d covered with open gl, we just gotta get the rest of the stuff covered.
But IMO i think this might happen sooner than you think, it is my firm belif that once the Xbox gains motion ms will drop support of Direct X on the pc in order to convince PC games developers to come develop for its Xbox. It would make alot of business sense to do that.
YMMV
Look at it! the hard drive even has a red to one IDE cable for gosh sakes, its a PC that looks like a console, what a clever company though, get a pc, package it as a console and call it the most advanced console ever (altho they did ignore the diffirence between RISC and CISC chips)
The problem with all book to movie/tv translations atleast for me has been they.. well suck
the point of reading a book is YOU get to imagine the characters, with only the guide lines of how the author has described them being your limitations, YOU get to imagine the settings. Book to Movies dont often translate and perhaps its just me, but i dont think Lord of the rings will either
(specially with elijah wood if that is how you spell his name: the Hobbit is meant to be a plump little red rosey grin fellow, not some skinny small prettyboy. Maybe im too cynical)
The real problem atleast in my opinion with laws such as this is it continues to send the message that video games are something only kids do, im 17 and i play games, a teacher at my university often trades games with me! The point is: gaming is for all ages, and stuff like this being taken away is good for getting rid of the stereotype that only children play games, now if only Australia would let us play Mature games and introduce an 18+ catogory
Loadable Kernel Module means you dont have to recompile your kernel, i know for some people (me!!) not having to recompile your kernel is a big importance
(i might be wrong on this, but thats what i remember, ill try and install it myself just to verify)
gosh someone woke up on the wrong side of the bed didnt they?
What a sad, sad little man you are
I got real money that says your that guy who had a go at me when i said the price for vegtable oil price is about 69 cents, who then proceeded to say melbounre pricing is 72, ofcourse, after i refuted his baseless claim by saying its 92 cents here in perth, and melbournes not the center of the world, he shut up
what hte hell do you have against me? i know its the same guy.
Sigh, i relaly couldnt care actually, go away
I dont know about nintendos attitude on things like that, i really think nintendos attitude on modifications is not always that good, i really think it boils down to
"If it doesnt make you any money, fine, but otherwise..."
Nintendo are famous for there olden day NES cartridge days, and how they controlled distrubution.
But So long as nothing has been said to these guys yet.

I always remember being told by my teacher that computers along time ago where being touted as going to make "the paperless office"
Didn't happen did it.
Oh well, does anyone else remember that?

must be all the mozilla nightlies lol ahh well, honest mistake, i was wrong, i admitted it. what else would u like me to say?
i knew i heard of it someplace before, i heard of it when i used to code in python and was drooling over pygame libaries
oh please forgive me, we cannot all be as wise as you, some of us cant read english very well (litreally)
i had a look at the link yse, but all the of the files in download where .tar.gz so i assumed it was linux only, my bad
is it windows compatible.. i heard about htis along time ago, it doesnt look like its windows compatible isnt this what loki use to port there games?
