And people who only play Madden (or other EA sports games) are not videogame enthusiasts. That is like saying someone who enjoyed 'the Fast and the Furious', its sequel, and even 'Biker Boyz' are true fans of cinema, just for that. Wrong. They do not care about games. If you know what Psychonauts is, you care about gaming. If you still own 'a' Zelda game, you care about games. If Halo (& Halo 2) are more than a multiplayer game to you, you care about games. If you have traded in ALL your old systems, you ARE NOT a gamer, you are a trend following, MTV watching, graphics whore. Fuck MTV. Fuck G4. Fuck Madden. Thats whats wrong with videogames.

Just to clear this out, it was in fact Sony who pushed games away from 2d to 3d. In the early days of the PSX, I vividly remember Sony's stance of "no 3d, no deal". Sega Saturn WAS a 2d system and the N64 came out much later. So again Sony is to blame as well as all the loyal fanboys. (Remeber, when you buy a product, you are supporting that company.)

Mortal Kombat 3 was the first exclusivity deal Sony ever worked out. Sure you could get it on Genesis or SNES, but who was gonna dust off their
aging 16 bit system to play a game that was faster (minus load times) and truer to the arcade on a new 32 bit console. Square and their Final Fantasy games are a different story altogether, because it was a format issue rather than a money being thrown around kind of issue. Sony fanboys had no problem accepting these kind of shady business dealings because they did in fact have the nicest 32 bit system. But now that so many (not all, but basically those who went to XBox because of its prettier graphics) of the Sony fanboys who helped Sony become the evil console overlords that they are today, now all of a sudden have a problem with Sony's shady dealings. It is you (giant finger pointing!) who have degraded console videogames into a mere graphics pageant and popularity contest. Who cares? You? Thats good for you if you dont care about playing games and are more interested in wowing your friends (or non friends) with your $200 show and tell exhibit. Consoles should be a fun way to kill time and entertain friends, but to care which console has game X with its real time light sourcing and reflections is utterly insane. Sony and those gamers out there (not necessarily Sony fanboys) who believe graphics make a game what it is are destroying MY hobby and I'm pissed. I hope you non-fanboy, videogame enthusiasts are just as pissed as I am.

The car navigation system, the ice maker, the whatever else you listed....those are all functions derived from the intended purpose of the appliance; improving the functionality of the car, fridge, or whatever. A DVD player in a videogame console is like a beer cooler attached to a hanglider, it doesn't make sense. Sure it sounds great, but you are a moron. Sony admitted that a large portion of thier Playstation2 Japanese launch revenue came from people looking for a cheap DVD player. And you are still a moron. Also, did you miss the words 'popularity' and 'the' in his statement about fighters and shooters, 'cause you sure seem like a moron to me - "No doubt there. Shooters are certainly on the way out. Hardly anyone is making them anymore." Thats amazing because he made no comment on the amount of shooters in development. Next time you decide to remove your lips from Bill Gates' (and Sony's!) ass and badmouth a real gaming great, don't be such a moron.
