The wheelchair would be the iBot, which is also being made by Kamen. Thing's tied up with the FDA, which has been evaluating it for some time. Wheelchairs are medical devices, so they need to be tested as such, and that tends to take quite a bit of time. Still, I have to admit that the thing is worth it, if only to be able to look somebody in the eyes when you balance on two wheels. You can see a video at

You know, this isn't really giving you all of the functionality of.Mac. Some of us aren't HTML-fluent, and this doesn't let you use the homepage programs (which made me a much nicer page for my newborn than the ATT Broadband tools did). I'm sure that here on Slashdot most people will scoff at this, but I personally find it to be the best way to build a relatively nice looking place to post movies, pictures, sounds, etc. for the grandmother to download... and those of you with children will most assuredly agree this is a big deal.
Actually, Apple's have been sans fan for longer than that... the original Macintosh was designed to work without a fan, too. Of course, it ran just a bit slower than things nowadays do.
And, when you're done, you can use it to make a Philly Cheese Steak Sandwich, and take the data with you (well, for a day or two).
Is this really necessary? Not everything needs to be so darned tech, you know... maybe we should just get a map and use that.
... Al Gore.
I, for one, welcome our folded masters.
Can I just say that linking to a copy of an article is rather amusing given the content of the article in question?
