As much as I hate to bash a fellow lib-hater, did it ever occur to you that he/she might be going to grad school later in life and not direct from undergrad?
Anyone? Bueller? Bueller? Anyone?/i doubt your car is worth stealing - I know mine isn't. Then again, I drive an F250 crew...
How is my desire to ignore the coming FLAME WARS considered offtopic?
I bet you'll find quite a few following my lead. I have yet to learn a damn thing from any of the flameouts on/., Fark, blogblog, etc. except that the large majority of Americans are ignorant jackasses that know little of whatever candidate they support.
I play a game when I fly for business each week. Depending on what book the person next to me is reading, I morph into a supportive character.
"Dude, Where's My Country"? 'Bush Sucks!' will get you in good graces.
"Deliver Us from Evil"? 'Liberal media scum!' does the trick.
The only thing that remains true through it all, is that Michael Moore is still a very fat bastard./please hurry and mod this one offtopic, too! Beat the rush! (heheh - get it? Rush? Rush Limbaugh? too funny...!
>>What part of "shall not be infringed" is so >>hard to understand? >>Do you ACLU? [aclu.org]
I'm confused. You quote from the 2nd amendment of the Constitution yet have an ACLU link? Oil and water if you ask me...
Those nutjobs are only interested (98% of the time is more like it) in pursuing liberal causes. I doubt "...the right of the people to keep and bear arms..." fits into their agenda of bashing Boy Scouts and city logos.
Normally I just lurk around/. and soak it all in since I'm not a Linux/GNU/GPL/SCO/Mozilla/BSD wonk-type.
However.....
I do know RFID and Intermec's position in specific and I have to say the majority of posters on this subject are either (1) ignorant, (2) paranoid CASPIAN drones, (3) super-ignorant, (4) completely ignorant, and (5) have a clue.
My reasoning from the other posts?
(a) Submarine patents? Duh! Check Lemelson for true submarine patent tactics. (b) RFID evil? I suppose each of you despise the number "6" because heaven forbid three of them get together and form "666". While you're at it, please make sure those CASPIAN whackos keep up with their daily medications. (c) Some old dude has the patent? Yeah, one patent covers an entire technology. (d) Intellectual property is evil? Oh, boy. Go head back to the bar and drink your Free as in Beer. (e) Intermec "Claims" RFID Is Proprietary (emphasis added) ? Way to go, CowboyNeal. Complete misrepresentation of the merits of this specific lawsuit. Why not just revert back to the standard "John Ashcroft is a Nazi" or "Patriot Act is GoogolDoublePlusUnGood" headings?
With rants like the ones I've seen a majority of you post on this topic, it's no wonder your jobs are being shipped over to India.
Broadband - $50 - 100 per month Cell phone - $50 - 200 per month Blackberry - no clue so I'll say $50 per month Pagers - do people still use those things?
Short end is $1,800/year to a possible max of $4,200/year. (Sure you could claim it on your taxes and only be out ~ $1,200-2,800 like that is supposed to make it any better.)
Smile while you are at work and get that resume in circulation. I'd quit on this issue alone because it looks to me that it's just the beginning....
CAT5? no problem for me - I'm wireless which "uses" the air - scratch that idea - the RIAA would probably sue God and we know he can't get a lawyer since they are all sent directly to hell...
>>Abusing these guys is not a good idea. >>Everybody should have the right to legal >>representation, even if they are scum, and >>harassing the people that make it possible >>would lead to the breakdown of the legal system
Allow me to be absolutely clear --- I am not requesting people abuse or harass these individuals. Just mentioning their contact information that is readily available (took a whopping 5 minutes of total research) for citizens to utilize as necessary; much like their clients do with our information.
HOWEVER --- your point about a breakdown of the legal system puzzles me. Do you mean to state (Martha Stewart voice here...) "This would be a BAD thing" ???
Given that 3 federal judges can vote unanimously against the recall, and then have 11 peers vote unanimously in the EXACT OPPOSITE OPINION a few days later, perhaps we should adopt The Bard's call to "kill all the lawyers" ? (assuming they grow up to be activist judges or obstructionist Senators blocking judge nominations?)

Would be a hell of a trip to reset the CMOS.
Actually, the main difference is toll tags are ACTIVE, not PASSIVE RFID.
Simply stated, active uses a battery to boost signal while passive 'recycles' the signal from the antenna to charge and transmit back.
